Monkey has a great imagination and I was interested to see how he’d respond to a package that arrived recently. He was really intrigued when our Fairy Garden set arrived and couldn’t wait to get started. It’s part of a range of the My Fairy Garden range from Interplay UK, this particular set is aimed at children aged 4 years and over.
Before we’d even opened the box, Monkey had decided that this would actually be Jack and the Beanstalk’s garden and Belle the Fairy was just visiting!
The set contains a Fairy Garden bowl (approx 27cm dia), Belle Fairy figure, Oyster shell pool, Fairy Cottage kit including carpet, Clothes line with posts, pegs and blanket, packet of grass seed, coloured gravel, Fairy Mushroom and Mouse, Fairy Flowers, Magic Fairy dust stars and an instruction booklet.
The only thing you need to add to the Fairy Garden is some earth. So whilst I went out into the monsoon that was raging outside, Monkey got to work constructing the Fairy Cottage.
The Fairy House is made from foam pieces and Monkey was easily able to put it together himself, the door can also be opened, so you can pop your Fairy and any visitors inside if you like.
Once the house is in place it’s time to fill the garden – with a washing line (Monkey did need help tying the cord to the posts), he added a coloured gravel path, pond with a little water, and planted some flowers.
The Fairy Garden comes with a pack of Grass Seed and Magic Dust stars, which Monkey loved sprinkling all over his imaginary world.
It was lovely to see Monkey become totally absorbed in creating this little world of his. We watered the seeds sparingly and now we just have to wait for 1-2 weeks to watch his garden grow.
When asked what a 6 year old Monkey would like to see included with the Fairy Garden set he said – stickers (no surprise there!) and yes, an elf would be good to keep the fairy company Mummy. But other than that, he really loves this set. He didn’t see it as ‘girlie’ at all and he’s already talking about adding things to his garden once the grass has grown.
You can get an idea of the My Fairy Garden range on this video.
Priced at £14.99 I think this is a really love set, which will spark children’s imaginations. I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below for your reference and check the blog out later this week when I’ll be offering one lucky the winner the chance to win their own Fairy Garden set.
