Sharing Mummy on a school trip

Project 366 2016 Week 10

Project 366 2016 Week 10 Day 66-72 with The Boy and Me. Mothers Day, a Theatre outing, a trip to the Forest and a School Fayre.

Sunday 6th March – Day 66

Project 366 2016 Week 10

For the first time ever I got a real lie in.  Daddy P always falls asleep on the sofa when he gets in from work, and Monkey went down to wake him up, rather than coming into me for the first time.  Nice way to start the day.  Some lovely tulips and daffodils were supplied by Monkey with a cup of tea in bed.

Daddy P had booked a table at a rather nice pub, but hadn’t checked whether they had a child friendly AKA fussy eater menu.  I’m guessing he also left things to the last minute as we were on a tiny table which wasn’t suitable for 2, let alone 3, stuck by a doorway.  It didn’t lend itself to a relaxing treat.  I’d have much rather gone to a National Trust property or a Castle and had a sandwich to be frank.

Monday 7th March – Day 67

Project 366 2016 Week 10

Saved by the daffodils as I forgot to take any other photos today.  They were all tightly budded yesterday, but have started to spring into life today.  I helped in class this morning and then headed into town to do the shopping and other mundane things.

Monkey is resisting spellings again. What a joy.

Tuesday 8th March – Day 68

Project 366 2016 Week 10

I headed over to a friends after I’d dropped Monkey at school, so I could have a much-needed massage, before catching up with some work.

I’d been offered the chance to review Joseph in Oxford for ATG in the evening.  I love musicals but leaving the house in the evening is always a logistical nightmare, especially as I’d need someone to put Monkey to bed for me.  Thankfully my SIL said she could help, and off I went, out-of-town on a Tuesday evening for the first time in over 6 years!  I met up with my NCT buddy N and we both had a wonderful evening – excuse the awful quality of the selfie.

Wednesday 9th March – Day 69

Project 366 2016 Week 10

We should have been on a school trip to Salcey Forest today, but the forecast was awful so it’s been postponed until tomorrow.  Thank god we didn’t go, we got soaked on the school run even with appropriate clothing and umbrellas.  It did mean I needed to juggle things so I could still help out.  As Daddy P works on the main laptop on Wednesdays I headed to the dungeon AKA spare room hell to work.  Bad idea.  I really need to sort a proper working space and have now undone any good work the massage did yesterday.

On Wednesday’s Monkey and Daddy P watch digger films on You Tube.  Can you tell how absorbed Monkey gets?

Thursday 10th March – Day 70

Project 366 2016 Week 10

The weather gods looked favourably on us and we had a great day at Salcey Forest.  The kids behaved really well and all really enjoyed the experience.  The tree top walk was definitely the highlight for many of them. I was super impressed that so many of them tidied up their lunch rubbish and put it in the bins without even being prompted.

Monkey is growing up and although he held my hand along the walk at points, he walked ahead with his friends in my group quite a lot, which was lovely to watch.  One of his friends was feeling a little poorly at lunchtime and where before Monkey would have been very jealous of not having my undivided attention, this time around, he went off and played with his class mates and left me to keep an eye on his friend.

We both went to bed early!

Friday 11th March – Day 71

Project 366 2016 Week 10

What a glorious day!  After a very foggy start, the sun came out, the birds started singing and it really felt like Spring today.  I tried to catch up with work this morning before heading over to The Milk Shed for lunch with my NCT group.  Oh lordy this Crispy Duck salad was amazing.  Still stuffed this evening.

So proud of Monkey, after a week of spelling list battles he only got 10 out of 10!  Mummy, I  nearly went wrong but I remembered what you said to me this morning and I tried again and got it right.  This boy never ceases to surprise me.

Saturday 12th March – Day 72

Project 366 2016 Week 10

Went to bed late last night to the news that my BIL has been admitted to hospital.  He’s not been well since Christmas and they seem to change their mind about what’s wrong every five minutes.  Hopefully now, they can do a thorough investigation and get to the bottom of it all.  A waiting game.

This morning was spent getting homework done.  Monkey had to write about our trip to Salcey Forest earlier in the week.  Once he’d finally calmed down at the prospect, I helped him come up with some sentences and he wrote them down.  He was much happier to do the drawings to go with it.  Then onto spellings and reading for his reading challenge, and that’s us done for the weekend.

Easter Fayre and school this afternoon with an Easter Egg hunt.

  2. Sorry to hear about your BIL. Hopefully you will have some answers soon.
Monkey looks so happy on his trip! Sorry to hear Mother’s Day didn’t go as well as it might, but at least you got your lie-in! I had the world’s quickest lunch at Yo! Sushi with two of my kids, both of them refusing to eat!

  3. Beautiful flowers..
Monkey is always so happy! Love it!

  4. Glad you all enjoyed the school trip, and that you had a nice day for it. We had a few really lovely days this week as well.
Not be long until Monkey is doing mothers day all on his own.
Hope things go ok with the BIL.

  5. Sorry to hear about your BIL, hope you’re starting to get some answers now. Love the flower photos and lucky you getting to go and see Joseph 🙂

  6. Oh 10 out of 10 spellings. Well done Monkey. Keep up the good work!
Glad it stayed dry for the school trip. Good that Monkey is striking out with his friends and not wanting to be beside Mummy all the time. A good sign of maturity.

  7. How great to get a night out, I bet it was so much fun. Sounds like the school trip went well too. I’m sorry to hear about your BIL, I hope they are finding out what is wrong with him now.
