One of my vivid childhood memories was of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1975. As a seven-year old the whole country seemed taken up with ‘royal fever’ and there were Union Jacks everywhere. We seemed so very proud of our Queen and our country. I can remember being given a special commemorative coin and mug at school, and there were celebrations across the land. When I visited Buckingham Palace for the first time I can remember being in awe of some of the beautiful gowns the Queen has worn throughout her reign. The Queen and I have something in common, we both have birthday’s this month. Her’s is slightly more important than mine though and Wentworth Wooden Puzzles have released the Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Souvenir puzzle to celebrate.
Wentworth Wooden Puzzles produce a lovely range of quality puzzles which always include their unique ‘Whimsy’ shapes. The puzzle pieces are different from the norm and offer a challenging experience to both novice and regular puzzlers. I really enjoy working on these puzzles.
I received the 200 piece Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Souvenir puzzle, but there is also a larger 400 piece version available. With images of the Queen as a young woman, mother and throughout her long reign, this puzzle has been a real joy to complete.
The Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Souvenir puzzle has been lovely to share with my son too. He’s only 6, but he knows exactly who the Queen is, his earliest memories of visiting London are of standing outside Buckingham Palace. He also remembers watching the Jubilee Pageant on TV in 2012, although I guess those memories will fade in the years to come. Children can never imagine people being younger than they are today. Monkey always laughs when he sees photos of me as a child, and even him as a baby, showing him this puzzle with the Queen being much younger completely bewildered him.
The puzzle will be a lovely memento, something to keep and share in the years ahead. I can’t quite imagine the Queen not being in our lives, let’s hope she gets to receive her own 100th birthday card in 10 years time.
The whimsy’s? I hear you say, of course, here they are.
Priced at £32.00 this Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday Souvenir puzzle is a great addition to my jigsaw collection. When you’ve completed your puzzle, there’s a nice fabric bag to keep the puzzle pieces in, safe and sound.
You can see this and the full range of puzzles available on the Wentworth Wooden Puzzles website.
