Project 366 2016 Week 16 Day 108-114 with The Boy and Me.

Sunday 17th April – Day 108

Project 366 2016 Week 16

We had a full day in London, starting at the London Aquarium.  I was rather gutted to discover that the penguins don’t arrive until next month.  We still haven’t seen them!  But Monkey didn’t mind, he loved it, and it was amazing to see the difference in him since our last visit.  He was like a little sponge, soaking everything up.

After a quick lunch, sitting by the Thames as Big Ben struck midday, we caught one of the Big Bus open top bus rides and headed to the Natural History Museum.  Monkey loved seeing the dinosaurs when we visited last year, but had been rather scared of the T-Rex. No such fear this year! It’s a shame the overhead walk has been closed as we’d really enjoyed that on our last trip.

We headed back to the bus and stayed on for the rest of the tour.  It meant we had a rather long day and Monkey had a very late bedtime, but the weather was good and we were determined to make the most of it.  Monkey’s topic this term is also London, so hopefully the day will really help him relate to what he’ll be covering in class.

Monday 18th April – Day 109

Project 366 2016 Week 16

It’s fair to say we were both tired today.  I helped out in school first thing and was with Monkey and a group of 3 other children for the session.  Monkey screamed all the way home telling me he hated Beavers and wasn’t going.  Joy! But once we were home and he’d changed I reminded him about his dinosaur egg he’d bought in London.  It was time to submerge it in water and wait for our baby dinosaur to hatch!

Beavers session 2 was actually a success.  We went early and found Penguin and as soon as everyone had to line up Monkey was happy to let me go.  I could see him joining in with a game when I came to pick him up. Phew!  He wants to watch them in the St Georges Day Parade on Sunday, so we’ve got to see if we can fit it in somehow.

Tuesday 19th April – Day 110

Project 366 2016 Week 16

What a glorious day.  I seriously need to rearrange my working space as I spend my writing days facing a wall, when I could be facing the patio doors and seeing the sunshine! We’d been sent a Flower Press to review so I suggested that we went on a flower hunt on the way home from school.  Can you tell how pleased Monkey was with the results of his labour?  A quick bike ride before bedtime too.

Wednesday 20th April – Day 111

Project 366 2016 Week 16

A day to be thankful for all that I have.  One of the ladies at Jado Chi hasn’t been at classed for a while, we just thought her shifts at the hospital had changed.  She came back today, I don’t think she can even be 30, she has a little boy.  Bless her, she had a stroke in February.  How brave was she to walk into our class today, she’s recovering and is getting help with her speech.  Make the most of every day.

After class I had a meeting in Banbury, before returning to pick up Monkey from school.  Huge excitement as we’d arranged to go bowling with his best friend and his family.  Both of our boys had won prizes in last months March into Reading at school, and we wanted to  show them how proud we were of all their efforts.

Monkey decided that I wasn’t allowed to bowl at all and he refused point-blank to wear bowling shoes.  But apart from that we all had a good time and he even got 2 strikes! Maybe next time I’ll actually got to have a go too.

I nearly forgot to take a photo today – rush shot when we got home!

Thursday 21st April – Day 112

Project 366 2016 Week 16

The Queen is 90 today and it’s also Monkey’s Aunties birthday too.  He was very excited as the Queen was apparently going to be coming to the school party!  When he came out of school he was full of all the fun they’d had, lots of games, a royal banquet and then a visit from the Queen.  All good stuff.

We had our monthly NCT curry night and my friend J and I were surprised with a birthday cake, candles and a musical knife.  You had to be there, to get the full effect, but it was lovely.  Can’t remember the last time I blew candles out on a cake!

Friday 22nd April – Day 113

Project 366 2016 Week 16

Exciting!  Our dinosaur is emerging.  I went into school to sit in on Monkey’s literacy class this morning.  I’d wanted to actually witness his independent writing as it’s such a battle to get him write anything at home.  It was a lovely class and I’m so glad I asked to sit in on it.

Daddy P’s cousin and his wife were driving home following a cruise so they popped in for a few hours to have a good catch on their way.  They’re really lovely and we get on well.

Saturday 23rd April – Day 114

Project 366 2016 Week 16

We spent the morning sorting Monkey’s spellings and catching up with some crafting from Baker Ross.  After lunch we were both in need of some fresh air so headed off to our local Woodland Trust site, Stoke Woods.  We’d timed it perfectly to enjoy a bluebell hunt, and there was plenty of mud to keep Monkey amused.  You can go over it, you can’t go under it, you really HAVE TO go straight through it Mummy!

  1. I’ve loved seeing the dinosaur egg. Pretty cool thing. Impressive that the Queen visited Monkey’s school! N’s school did a cake sale for charity and all dressed in red, white and blue.

  2. Love that last photo, he looks very happy to be in the mud 🙂 Sounds like a good week, how exciting for the Queen to come to their party 😉

  3. I love London so much and would love to do all those things again. It sounds like you had a brilliant time. Maybe we’ll have to do a day or two in the summer! I didn’t know you could get eggs like that. It looks so exciting, hope the dinosaur is doing well x

  4. Glad Beavers is going so well. H is mad for cubs and much prefers it to doing sports after school. Always love an aquarium trip – pity about the penguins.

  5. Sorry to hear about your friend, I hope she recovers well. The day out in London sounds fantastic, it is a shame you didn’t see the penguins but it gives you a good excuse to go back. The dinosaur egg looks fab. Hope you have a good week x #project366

  6. sounds like a lovely week, how much is the big bus tour? the cost puts me off doing it, but I’m in London this summer and wouldn’t mind a trip

  7. We did the bus tour in London too..expensive but quite a fun activity.
I like the last piccie of monkey in the woods.
