Rory's Story Cubes Batman Dice

Rory’s Story Cubes Batman Dice – review and giveaway

I’ve been a fan of Rory’s Cubes for a few years. I bought the Original set a few years ago, as a way of helping Monkey develop his speech.  We’ve been fan’s ever since.  So when Esdevium Games asked if we’d like to try the Rory’s Story Cubes Batman Dice we didn’t hesitate for a moment.

Rory's Story Cubes Batman Dice

In case you are not familiar with the game, Rory’s Story Cubes Batman Dice is a story generating game using 9 die.

Rory's Story Cubes Batman Dice

Each die has a different image on each side, when you throw the dice together, you make up a story based on the images thrown.

Some of the images are fairly obvious, but for others we’ve had to refer to the leaflet provided to identify properly.

The Rory’s Story Cubes Batman Dice is aimed at children (and adults) over the age of 6 and is a really fun way to help children develop their language and vocabulary.  Monkey is a very imaginative child, and this idea works brilliantly for him as he doesn’t need to write anything down!

Rory's Story Cubes Batman Dice

We start the game with a line such as Once upon a time (or maybe Crime in this instance!) throw the dice and pick three die for the start of our story, three for the middle and three for the ending.  Then we piece the images together to make a crime busting tale of good versus evil.

The great thing with these Rory’s Story Cubes Batman Dice is that you can play with them as they are, or add them to other Rory’s Story Cubes sets to mix up the storylines.  It’s a game with no real rules.  Play it as you see fit. Monkey and I are travelling to Spain together in a couple of weeks and I’ll be taking these with us.  They come with a storage box, which makes them easy to slip into a handbag or case.

It would be great if the instruction leaflet was small enough to fit inside the storage case, that’s really my only gripe with this great little game. Priced at £11.99 I really rate this new addition to the Rory’s Story Cubes range, and have included my Amazon Affiliate link for your information.  I’ve also included the new Moomins version which also sounds great.

  1. my boys would love power rangers, there are lots of different characters for the stories 🙂

  2. My boys would love Star Wars as there are lots of great characters on both the light and dark sides!

  3. Something to do with outer space – my sons are greatly into that, especially following Tim Peake’s

  4. My youngest would love Peppa Pig and my eldest would enjoy My Little Pony, so I think one of those 🙂

  5. My boys would love a simpsons one there would never be a dull moment in this house lol.

  6. i’d choose dc superhero girls. my daughter is loving getting to know the whole dc world

  7. A Pokémon version would be great as it would mean my mobile getting freed back up to actually use it as a phone 😉

  8. I’d like a Jacqueline Wilson themed set. Her stories are so relevant to modern life that it may make children create stories that are really relevant to them.

  9. The lion king ,,, i love that movie, as does my son… it would be great to have all the different characters, etc and have endless possibilities! 🙂 xx

  10. Perhaps as obvious as it is, my kids would both go for a Minecraft themed set. I could easily see them making up the stories with the dice, and then making them happen in the game!

  11. I would create a Sailor Moon themed set. My nieces love Sailor Moon as its all about girl power, friendship and really fun to watch.

  12. Harry Potter would be fab. My kids are at the right age now and are really getting into it and the characters.

  13. An animal/jungle theme – unisex but you could generate some real high-end discussion from it (e.g. poaching, extinction, animal rights/welfare, survival of the fittest)… can you tell that I’m a teacher?

  14. it would be harry potter – my children are all obsessed with harry and his pals and it would be a great theme for young and old 🙂 everyone loves a bit of harry 🙂

  15. I would got for space travel as the children are getting into rockets, space stations and all things space-related at the moment.

  16. My 2 girls love superheroes because of their dad, so it would be great to see a DC superhero girls theme x

  17. My Little Pony, but not the main characters… A secondary set for second line characters like Secora and Scootaloo etc

  18. What a great idea, will definitely be checking these out as gifts. Would love a jungle version or maybe farmyard for younger children would definitely fire the imagination

  19. Such a cool idea reminds me of the decisions books from when I was at school albeit more random. I’d like to see a Dr Who one but then I am a SciFi nerd so don’t listen to me!

    1. Because Terry Pratchett sadly died so no more stories from him so would like to make my own

  20. These are fabulous, a really great idea and so different from many of the toys and activities on the market! My daughter would love these! She loves Batman! She would also love a Superman, Spiderman or general Marvel one!

  21. With Pokemon taking over the world, that would seem obvious, but actually we love Shrek, so that would be our choice.

  22. I’m partial to a fairytale so I’d like to see some princes, princes, maybe a crazy nanny and some magical critters on the die 🙂 I think Rory’s Story Cubes are fab.

  23. Harry Potter because we all love Harry Potter, and I think it could work really well 🙂

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
