Preparing for Year Two with Cleancut Wood

Preparing for Year Two with Cleancut Wood

As regular readers know, Monkey sometimes finds school challenging.  Writing has certainly not been one of his favourite activities at school.  But I can see some noticeable improvements in his efforts in the last few months.  I’ve had notes written for me, cards have appeared for friends and family and his is a little more willing to put pen to paper.  I thought he deserved a little treat as we look forward to the next academic year.  Something a little different. He’ll be preparing for Year Two with Cleancut Wood and their beautiful personalised wooden pencil-case.

Cleancut Wood produce a range of wooden gifts, made in oak and bamboo.  They have a wide selection of items, ranging from memorial plaques, rulers and trinket boxes to chopping boards, snowflake decorations and furniture.  The vast majority of the items can also be personalised.

I really liked the idea of the personalised pencil box, its something a little different, and something that Monkey can use for many years to come.  Being made of oak, I know its going to last too.

You can arrange for a personalisation on both sides of the slip lid. I decided to have Monkey’s name on the front of the lid and a little message on the reverse.

With rounded edges the pencil box is really tactile and the engraving is very well finished. It is worth noting that Cleancut Wood finish their products with Danish Oil, which was a little strong-smelling when we first opened our delivery.  Our pencil-case also came in a little cloth bag, which I thought was a nice touch.

It’s perfectly sized to house all manner of pens and pencils and has made a perfect end of year gift for a little boy who has tried so hard to catch up this year.

The quality of the craftsmanship shows and I’m really pleased with this item.  I think we may well have to look at getting their personalised ruler at some point too.  Priced at £45.00, this is a beautiful gift made of solid oak, something special to be treasured for a long time to come.

To see the full range of items manufactured by Cleancut Wood pop over to their website. It’s also worth noting that they offer free delivery on all items.

disclosure: we were sent the item mentioned in exchange for an honest review

  1. My Great – Nephew who starts school this year. So we are counting down to his “Big school Days” he enjoyed Nursery, and we wish him well for the future.

  2. My daughter who is about to start training to become a teacher, this would be a lovely gift for her

  3. For my nephew because he’s changing schools and moving up to year 3 this year! He’d love it so much x

  4. I would like to win this for me! I’m starting a new job as a teacher in September, so it would be a lovely first piece of equipment in my classroom and with my name on it, it could never get lost/mixed up with the children’s rulers!

  5. I’d like to win it for my goddaughter who is a little worried about some changes to her class after the holidays.

  6. This would make the most lovely gift to give to my sweet little neice as she heads up in to ‘Big School’ next term, although her daddy might not appreciate the wooden rulers so much as they’d probably trigger some bad memories from when he was at school? 😉

  7. i would like to win it for my step daughter, she will be in year 4 after holidays, and this would be a great start to school for her.

  8. I’d love to win this for my son who starts school this year, it would make a fab present

  9. Would love this for my wonderful Niece. The only other member of my family who adores school as much as I did 🙂

  10. My daughter. She has an uncommon name and is always disappointed not to find it on items on the high street. She would love this!

  11. For my daughter who has really overcome her shyness and has been participating more and more in PE and in school in general.

  12. I would love to win this for my daughter, she is starting her hairdressing course in September and its a miracle she’s going back to school as she was a victim of rape and consequently had to drop out of school for a while. Thankfully she is starting to feel better and she has enrolled in college on a hairdressing course so this would be lovely for her to take to her theory lessons as she is taking maths and english again 🙂

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
