Matador Freerain24 Waterproof pack-away daypack

With a holiday to Cornwall in the offing and the Great British weather being as predictable as ever, I knew I’d turn into a packhorse while we were away. The Matador Freerain24 Waterproof pack-away daypack was just what I needed.  It’s lightweight, fits in my handbag when not needed, waterproof (a must in this country) and can hold 24 litres (a lot of clothing, food, beach stuff in real words!) and I just love it.

This photo doesn’t really give you a clear idea of how small the Matador Freerain24 Waterproof pack-away daypack is when it’s folded up, so hopefully this will.

I’m always a little dubious of pack away items, will they ever fit back in their pouches as easily once they’ve been used?  Well I’ve used this daypack repeatedly over the last few weeks and it’s dead easy to pack back up and yes, it does always look like this when I’ve done so.  Result.

It weighs 156g, which is another winner for me.  No longer do I need a big, bulky daypack when we’re off on an adventure.

Being waterproof is such a bonus.  My last daypack wasn’t and after a weekend spent at a very soggy Silverstone last year for the Grand Prix, my love signed programme wasn’t looking so great by the end of the event.  No more worrying about wet gear, it’s all sorted. The material of the daypack is really durable, great for outdoor adventures and is puncture resistant.  Another bonus when you have a stick and rock collecting 6 year old in tow.

Once you’ve filled the daypack with your essentials you simply roll the top over a few times and use the clasp fastener to secure. There are handy side pockets and a front zip compartment.

We made so much use of this daypack on holiday.  We had a wet morning at Cardinham Woods, and when the sun came out (typical) I just got the Matador Freerain24 Waterproof pack-away daypack out of my bag, and packed our waterproof trousers and jackets away. On beach days, I crammed our lunch provisions inside, and when we’d eaten everything, I just packed the daypack up and put it in my handbag.

It’s really easy to wear and comfortable too.  I can see me using this a lot when we’re travelling at home and abroad, it takes up no room in a case after all.

Priced at £49.99 I thoroughly recommend the Matador Freerain24 Waterproof pack-away daypack. It’s available from Bear & Bear or visit Eskimo Agency for stockist information.
