Project 366 2016 Week 38

Project 366 2016 Week 38 Day 262-268. From Silverstone to Bridget Jones’s Baby and some fun in between.

Sunday 18th September – Day 262

Project 366 2016 Week 38

My brother and I received free passes to the British Touring Car Championship event at Silverstone as part of this years Grand Prix ticket package.  We headed over with Monkey, Daddy P and my nephew to enjoy the days activities.  I haven’t been to a BTTC event for years and I’m not sure why.  There’s so much action and the races are held on a shorter circuit so it’s an ideal event for children.  We will be back again next year and it’s worth noting that kids under 15 get in free.

Monday 19th September – Day 263

Project 366 2016 Week 38

I spent the morning sorting and printing photographs for Monkey’s family tree homework project.  It was too much to hope for that he’d write about each member of the family so we compromised on labels telling people what relation they all were to him instead.  Some times you just need to know which battles to fight!

It’s been raining on and off all day today and the walk to Beavers involved a lot of snail dodging.  There were loads of them on the pavements.  Monkey came out of Beavers happy – another badge, this time for the hike he went on last term!

Tuesday 20th September – Day 264

Project 366 2016 Week 38

I had a few things to pick up in town before coming back to catch up with work.  After school it was time for Monkey to write out some birthday cards.  I think this is the first time ever that he’s just got on with it, no moaning and even wrote out the envelopes and gift tags.  It’s the little things.

Wednesday 21st September – Day 265

Project 366 2016 Week 38

It’s my youngest niece’s 18th birthday, but somehow I was the one Monkey woke up with a rather dubious rendition of Happy Birthday.  Not the quietest start to the day. After I’d dropped him off at school I headed into town to buy some fabric.  Our dining chairs are in desperate need on recovering and I found a fabric that goes quite well with our sofa so now just need Daddy P to be around to help me sort it all out. A quick coffee and pastry stop at my friend’s house before heading home to get on with some jobs.  The craft cupboard has been de-cluttered and some things re-homed.

Helped out in school this afternoon and was there to see Monkey’s face when his teacher told them they’d be doing art all day tomorrow.  Everyone else cheered, Monkey looked like he’d been given the death sentence.  I think it’s fair to say that he’s not totally enjoying Year Two.

Thursday 22nd September – Day 266

Project 366 2016 Week 38

Monkey got out of bed on the wrong side, refused to read or do his spellings before school and really didn’t want to go in.  It’s becoming a bit of a theme at the moment.  The weather doesn’t know what to do with itself, I’ve been turning the lights on and off all day as it’s got so dark at times.

Lots of tears after school, tiredness, a coming together with his Playmobil set, his Mr Bump Bruise Soother (god he loves that thing) split, the list goes on.  After dinner I thought he really needed cheering up so we made a start on the Cobi Supermarine Spitfire set he’d received for a review.  Peace and harmony restored.

Friday 23rd September – Day 267

Project 366 2016 Week 38

One completed Spitfire ready for takeoff with a pre-school airshow.  We’re both so impressed with this set.  It’s Jeans for Genes day so Monkey gets to wear jeans to school. Very handy, as he’s going straight to his best friends birthday party after school.  Of course, I’ve got to go too.

Once I’ve got him home and in bed I’m off to see the latest Bridget Jones film with a couple of my NCT group.  An evening of laughter awaits.

Saturday 24th September – Day 268

Project 366 2016 Week 38

The film last night was excellent, haven’t laughed so much in ages.  Brilliant.  Today we had planned on going to Silverstone for a Ferrari event. But both Monkey and I were feeling a bit tired, and decided we’d rather spend a day at home instead.

We’d been sent a few different K’Nex sets for a review and have spent the day constructing. Sadly the roller coaster set we spent the most time on appears to have a vital piece missing, but Monkey soon cracked on with the vehicle set instead.  First make, a racing car 🙂

  1. I remember sneaking into a touring cars event as an under 15 – when I was a little bit older! Loved it – and I’m not a huge car fan! The spitfire models remind me of when my brother was little – he always had airfix on the go.

  2. Looks like a great event, even better to go and see it live, instead of watching it on the telly. Whoo you have reminded me, we was going to see Bridget Jones baby last week when the kids were at school, can not believe I completely forgot till you mentioned it. Wait till I see my husband later, ha!! Hope it was good 🙂

  3. I too am trying to know which battles to fight, especially with my grade 1 boy. Hope things improve with Monkeys school.
(Also, I don’t know if I realized before but I like how you format this post.)

  4. I’ve never been to Silverstone after living in the area for around 30 years. They seem to have a lot going on there and I really should make the effort to find out more.

  5. Another busy week! The touring cars look great fun. Sorry to hear that Monkey is having a tough time with school, hope that improves soon x

  6. how apt making the racing car, looks great. our lot love the k’nex as well, find them so versatile.
Looks like you had a great day out on Saturday, nice that the sun shone as well,
Oh dear at school not going too well, I am sure he will settle again.

  7. Don’t you think this time of year, the return to school, the nights getting dark takes its toll on the kiddies. I am noticing it here. I cant wait to see Bridget Jones, although I read the book and its different, totally x

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
