Long Way North DVD

Long Way North DVD – review and giveaway

Monkey prefers films that are rather gentle and a few weeks ago we sat down to watch the Long Way North DVD which is being released countrywide from 10th October 2016.

Long Way North DVD

The Long Way North DVD tells the story of teenager Sasha, an aristocratic child from 19th century St Petersburg, in Russia.  We follow the enchanting tale as she tries to discover what has happened to her disgraced explorer grandfather Oloukine.

The story is told in 2D animation, and Monkey and I sat riveted as the feisty Sacha is determined to find Oloukine and his missing ship the Davai, neither having returned from his expedition to the North Pole.  All searches have brought up nothing, but the young Russian is convinced that they have been looking in the wrong place.

Faced with her parents plan to arrange her marriage, Sacha runs away determined to head North and bring home her grandfather and his ship.  I won’t ruin the rest of the plot, but it’s very well done and rather poignant.  Monkey and I both really enjoyed watching the Long Way North DVD, it’s a truly lovely animation with a good story behind it, and it runs for approx 80 minutes.
