Project 366 2016 Week 39

Project 366 2016 Week 39 Day 269-275. From visiting a soon to be demolished signal box to a brilliant day at Whipsnade Zoo.

Sunday 25th September – Day 269

Project 366 2016 Week 39

We had a quiet morning at home before heading to Banbury in the afternoon.  The Banbury North Signal Box has been recently decommissioned and is due to be demolished within the next couple of weeks.  I’d heard about free tours to see the Signal Box in action and just knew that Monkey and Daddy P would love it.  It was really interesting and a chance in a lifetime to experience a bit of railway history.

I was so proud of Monkey, he was the only child on our tour, surrounded by a large group of men.  He wasn’t phased and joined in a lot, changing signals and points.  So glad I’d signed us up for it.

In other news Daddy P helped me to re-cover our dining chairs with the fabric I bought last week.  No more of his dusty pink!  I’m really pleased with our first attempt, I don’t expect they’ll last another 20 years, but we will see.

Monday 26th September – Day 270

Project 366 2016 Week 39

Sleeping beauty, just not in his own bed, again.  My view when the alarm went off this morning.

Once I’d walked Monkey to school I drove over to Stratford Upon Avon for a catch up with my friend Iona and we had a drink and some cake to celebrate her birthday.  The rain didn’t stop us from enjoying a walk too.

Tuesday 27th September – Day 271

Project 366 2016 Week 39

Miracles do happen.  We’ve got O2 coming to install a Home View system on Thursday and we really needed to make the living room look less like a toy shop.  Monkey actually started ‘tidying up’ without being asked.  Unheard of.

Wednesday 28th September – Day 272

Project 366 2016 Week 39

Waking up to a kiss in the sky and it’s not raining/dark or dull.  Result.  I got some jobs done at home before heading into school to sort my DBS check and spent the afternoon listening to the kids reading.  Also got a sneaky peak at my son busily doing his maths work before he spotted me.

Thursday 29th September – Day 273

Project 366 2016 Week 39

The day of our O2 Home View installation and the guy was bang on time.  He was with me for 2 hours, talking through the different devices, installing everything and then showing me how to set up the programmes.  Now it’s over to me to get it all working properly.

All of today’s post was for Monkey.  Dinosaur biscuits from Granny and Gramps in Spain, his latest Andy’s Amazing Adventures magazine and a Frugi top that I fell in love with on the internet.  I think it’s fair to say he loves it too, as he stripped off as soon as he got home from school.

Friday 30th September – Day 274

Project 366 2016 Week 39

I dropped Monkey at school and got myself ready to go to college. I started a photography course today, thought it was about time I learnt how to use my camera properly.  I’ve tried signing up to online courses, but I never actually get round to doing the work.  I’m hoping practical lessons in situ will help.

I met my NCT friend L for lunch on the way home at The Milk Shed, the food was as lush as ever.  The sunflower in the vase certainly brighten up our table.

Picked Monkey up from school and he was rather chuffed with himself for getting a Behaviour Award at school.  A first!  The day just got better when Daddy P finally arranged for someone to remove the monstrosity that is our stone fireplace.  I’ve only been asking for nearly 9 years.  It goes in two weeks time – yippee!!

Saturday 1st October – Day 275

Project 366 2016 Week 39

A day spent at Whipsnade Zoo with my Dad’s cousin L.  Love it there, and the weather forecast wasn’t looking great, so we donned our waterproofs and headed off, to what has to be one of the best visits we’ve ever had there.  So many of the animals that are normally camera shy were on top form.  From playful lions and tigers, cheetahs not hiding in the grass and the lynx, and red panda family.  Memories were most definitely made today.  But right now, we are both shattered and off for an early night!

  1. We have free tickets to get into Whipsnade, from a friend who works for ZLS, I am determined to go, before it gets cold and wintery.

    Beautiful flowers. I love sunflowers!

  2. Sad to see another piece of history go, shame they cannot make some into small museums, but such is modern life. Nice you all enjoyed the visit.
laughed at him voluntarily tidying up, maybe excited about the install, 2 hrs makes it sound complicated.
Good luck with the photo course, I am with you signed to an online one but then life got in the way.

  3. What a shame the signal box is being demolished.
I know what you mean about online photography courses. The one I’m doing is very good but I still feel like I need a bit of one on one tuition.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
