I’m often out in all elements, whether it be on the walk to school, running through muddy puddles with Monkey or going on snail hunts (yes we still do those). There’s no denying that Autumn has arrived, colder days and more rain. I’ve been in need of a more substantial coat and decided to have a look through the Winter 16 Activewear Collection from Didriksons for inspiration.
You all know that we love the Swedish brand and Monkey has been wearing Didriksons jackets and waterproof trousers for a few years now. The quality is great and they wear brilliantly. Their clothes are made from recycled polyester and they use spin-dyed yarn as part of their environmental ethos. Not only this, but Didriksons coats always include really well thought out features.
I wear a lot of tunic tops at this time of year and looking through the Winter 16 Activewear Collection from Didriksons I decided that I really needed a longer coat. After looking at a few different options in the range I spotted the Thelma Women’s Coat in Scilla – it was ‘my blue’, the right length. It basically had my name written all over it.
It was love at first sight and I’ve worn it so much over the last couple of weeks. The Thelma, as with all Didriksons coats is 100% waterproof, breathable and windproof. Having got caught in the rain a few times on the school walk lately, I can vouch for that.
Details I love with the coat include adjustable cuffs with press studs as well as an adjustable waist and hemline using toggle cords.
I’ve always seen hoods as a necessary evil on all-weather coats, but once I’ve found a hood I like. The Thelma fixed hood can be adjusted in two ways, front and back and has an extra protective peak. Basically the hood stays up no matter what the weather, and doesn’t flop in front of your face. It even keeps my glasses dry in wet weather. There’s also a chin guard.
There are pockets galore, both externally and internally all. The front pockets are a really good size too. The front zipper has a press stud covering to add to the general protection offered with this coat.
I honestly can’t fault this coat, it ticks all the boxes for me. I can wear the clothes I like without worrying about the weather. The colour is just fabulous, there are 7 other colour options for those of you not quite so blue obsessed as me.
I just know I’m going to be living in my new coat this autumn. It’s a love thing.
