Organising the garage with Tufferman

Organising the garage with Tufferman

We have a very small garden, so we’ve always resisted adding a shed.  Of course, this has meant that our garage has become a dumping zone over the years.  From wheelie bins to bikes, BBQ and garden tools, it’s been pretty much rammed with clutter.  Daddy P then decided to build a couple of model railway train tables when Monkey and I were in Spain in the summer holidays.  It was a lovely surprise for Monkey, but he didn’t actually sort the mess in the garage out first.  We needed a plan, and fast, to keep everyone happy. Someone heard our call, and it was long before we were organising the garage with Tufferman, and their 3 x Storalex Value Shelving Bays.

Having measured the space we have available in the garage we opted for the AAAG 3 x Storalex Value Storage Bays, each being 1800h x 900w x 450d mm. We have a supporting buttress on the side wall of the garage, but worked out we’d still have walking space once the storage bays were in place.

The units arrived flat-packed in 3 boxes and we stored them away until Daddy P was available to put them together.  The packaging does suggest that assembly is easier with 2 people, but Daddy P managed it himself quite easily.

Whilst Monkey and I were off on an adventure Daddy P set to work.  He didn’t find the assembly instructions until he opened the last box, he’d already assembled the other two units by this time.  Maybe it would be a good idea if there was some box labelling to make it clear which box contains the instructions, or have a copy with each unit?

With the 3 x Storalex Value Shelving Bays from Tufferman, you can either have them as a 5 bay shelf, or 2 half height shelves which could also double as a work bench.  We most certainly needed as much shelving space as possible, so opted for the 5 bay shelf solution.

It’s also worth noting that these shelving units can be assembled by just using a flat-headed screwdriver and a rubber mallet.

By organising the garage with Tufferman we are finally starting to see the wood for the trees.  Although we have a lot of ‘stuff’ that needs storing I don’t think we’ll be reaching the maximum load of 1325kgs.

The shelves themselves are made of high density MDF board so should cope with life here. Each shelf also has a central support beam for added strength and to avoid any sagging issues.

The shelf heights can be adjusted to suit, with fixing holes every 35mm. for this function. It’s also possible to fix to the wall with the drill holes that are located every 15cm. Once he’d positioned the three units inside the garage, it was time to sort the clutter.

So we may still have some clutter to clear, but at least it’s tidier than it was!  Organising the garage with Tufferman has given us some much-needed space.  For more information on the different sizes of shelving bays available, pricing and delivery options pop over to their website.
