If you’ve been reading the blog over the years you’ll know that we are big fans of The Snowman and Snowdog here and I’m thrilled to be taking part in this years The Snowman Blog tour. Sharing with you some lovely gift ideas for fans of these lovely characters.
Have you been lucky enough to see the Snowdog trails in Brighton and Newcastle this year? I wished we lived closer to either location as I know Monkey would love them.
Well the team behind these trails, Wild in Art, have launched a Paint Your Own Snowdog figurine and Monkey couldn’t wait to get started. The set comes with the ceramic figurine, a selection of paints and a paint brush. There’s no need for firing with this set, so once the paint is dry your child’s masterpiece is complete. Although Monkey decided to add a few snowflakes to his Snowdog, which he stuck on with UVA glue.
Snowflake the Snowdog, who I admit has no white on him at all (white paint is provided!), is now living in Monkey’s bedroom, waiting for Christmas to come. He loved creating his own version of the Snowdog and it’s a really lovely figurine. Priced at £25, the Paint Your Own Snowdog is something which would make a great present in my opinion.
If you’re looking for other ideas based around The Snowman and The Snowdog, then look no further. I’ve got some lively ideas to share, and a book giveaway too. I don’t know about your kids, but Monkey loves playing dominoes. The Snowman and the Snowdog Wooden Dominoes are aimed at children aged 18 months and over, and contains 28 themed domino pieces. These are priced at £9.99.
Shape sorting is always a fun activity for little ones and The Snowman and Snowdog Shape Sorter, available from JoJo Maman Bebe looks adorable.
Priced at £15, this lovely wooden set has eight different shaped pieces to sort.
Thorntons have come up trumps again this year with their Thorntons White Chocolate Snowman Advent Calendar 83g and Thorntons Snowman white chocolate model 60g, both of which Monkey will be enjoying over the festive season!
I remember Monkey receiving a My 1st Christmas bear back in 2009. It’s still treasured now. One of my friends had a little boy last month and I’m hoping he’s going to love this beautiful The Snowman and The Snowdog Snowglobe. Isn’t it adorable.
Available from The Brilliant Gift Shop, this snowglobe is currently reduced to £20.
We love baking in this house so I knew the 2 baking sets we received would go down well. The Snowman and the Snowdog Chocolate Muffin kit is available from Morrisons and The Snowman and the Snowdog Gingerbread biscuit kit can be found in Sainsburys.
Monkey’s requested that we save making the muffins until his birthday, but he was eager to try out the gingerbread kit straight away. The kit comes with gingerbread mixture, fondant icing, jellybeans, black and green icing pens and a cardboard The Snowman face template. We made the mixture up and I was in charge of cutting out the individual faces as Monkey found that bit a little tricky. Once they were baked though, he was in total charge, the template really came into its own at this point. The gingerbread The Snowman didn’t last long I can tell you!
Of course, none of these gifts would be possible without the original Raymond Briggs books. Both classics in my opinion. The Snowman and The Snowman and The Snowdog are charming books and these particular additions tie in perfectly with their respective films, and include a CD in each.
In The Snowman we follow a little boy who builds a snowman one winter’s day. We watch in wonder as the snowman comes alive and the two go on a magical journey. But of course we all know that snow melts.
In The Snowman and The Snowdog we see the lovely snowman return, along with his pal the snowdog. What adventures await them and the little boy this time around?
disclosure: we were sent the items mentioned in exchange for an honest review.
I’m pleased to be able to offer one lucky reader The Snowman – the book of the Classic film.
