Project 366 2016 Week 51-52

Project 366 2016 Week 51-52 Day 353-366 – It’s Christmas so someone had to be ill!

Sunday 18th December  – Day 353

Project 366 2016 Week 51-52

After a bad night and morning Monkey seemed brighter this afternoon so we decided to head to Stoke Wood for a little walk.  Monkey happily collected leaves and seemed fine. Within half an hour of getting home he was fast asleep on the sofa and Daddy P ended up carrying him up to bed.

Monday 19th December – Day 354

Project 366 2016 Week 51

Our trip to Oxford was cancelled as Monkey had a raging temperature.  A day of cuddles on the sofa was in order. The local Round Table Santa came round at the end of the day to put a smile back on Monkey’s face.

Tuesday 20th December – Day 355

Project 366 2016 Week 51

Another lazy day at home and a cancelled trip to see my ex MIL.  Monkey was so upset that we couldn’t go, but he really wasn’t well enough.  We watched films all day and had lots of cuddles.

Wednesday 21st December – Day 356

Project 366 2016 Week 51

I’d postponed a theatre trip for today yesterday thinking Monkey wouldn’t be well enough. But this morning it was clear he was on the mend, but maybe not bright enough to concentrate on a theatre production for an hour or more. In the afternoon we both felt the need for some fresh air and Monkey asked to go to Stowe.  I wrapped him up and we headed out for an hour.  It did him the world of good.

Thursday 22nd December – Day 357

Project 366 2016 Week 51

I’ve loved watching Monkey open all the Christmas cards we’ve had in the post this year.  He’s read the envelopes, and the messages which has been a first.  He’s certainly better today, still got his cough, but the cheeky boy has returned along with some attitude!

Friday 23rd December – Day 358

Project 366 2016 Week 51

It’s a love thing.  Monkey had to say his goodbye’s to Berry for another year.  We had a really quiet day at home. Watching films and having fun.

Saturday 24th December – Day 359

Project 366 2016 Week 51-52

Christmas Eve!  The excitement levels were mounting all day, and even more so when Daddy P finally came home. Reindeer food sprinkled, carrot, mince-pie and a drink left out, and it was time for Monkey to head to bed.

Sunday 25th December – Day 360

Project 366 2016 Week 51-52

After waking me up at 12.30am to let me know that Santa had been, I convinced Monkey not to start opening his presents and go back to sleep.  He ended up in with me, but at least he slept til after 7am!  Then it was full on present opening.  He gets a little stocking with gifts from Santa left by his bedside, and his main presents are downstairs.  This year he really took his time to read cards, and tags and look at one present before moving on to the next.  He even decided to hold back his present from Granny and Gramps until we had a Skype chat with them later in the day.

Christmas dinner was a big hit, although I forgot the cranberry jelly until later in the evening.  Never mind.  The day was a happy one.

Monday 26th December – Day 361

Project 366 2016 Week 52

After a leisurely morning we headed over to Stowe for a couple of hours with Daddy P.  He hadn’t been for ages so Monkey took on the role of tour guide and ‘bridge troll’.  He’d found the king of sticks so he was totally in his element. Hot chocolate and cake were a good way to end our afternoon, before we headed home.

Tuesday 27th December – Day 362

Project 366 2016 Week 52

Another quiet morning of Lego building for Monkey, I am no longer needed for anything other than turning the pages of the instructions over.  After lunch we headed over to see my brother and his family.  Monkey hadn’t been too keen on their dog on our last visit so today was all about getting them used to each other.  By the end of the visit, Monkey had certainly made friends with Jess.  We are not getting a dog.

Wednesday 28th December – Day 363

Project 366 2016 Week 52

One of those perfect days.  We had pain au chocolat for breakfast, Monkey made up some more Lego, and in the afternoon we headed to Waddesdon Manor for a couple of hours.  All of Monkey’s requests. It was cold but we were wrapped up warm and he had a great time.

Thursday 29th December – Day 364

Project 366 2016 Week 52

We’d had to cancel seeing my ex-MIL last week when Monkey was poorly so I’d rearranged it for today.  The day started with Monkey asking me to pull out his latest wobbly tooth which had been hanging on for a few days.  Job done, bye-bye tooth number 6.  We then headed over to spend the day with Sheba as planned, only to discover a little visitor.  She was dog sitting for my ex-SIL and it was love at first sight. Monkey even took Bonnie for a walk without me and was just totally besotted.

Friday 30th December – Day 365

Project 366 2016 Week 51-52

After a quite morning at home, Monkey and I headed to Banbury on the train.  The fog was really thick and I really didn’t fancy driving in it.  We had lunch out and Monkey got to spend some of his birthday and Christmas money. Then it was time for a trip to The Mill Arts Centre to see the Creation Theatre production of Cinderella.  We should have seen the show last week but had to postpone when Monkey was ill.

When we caught the train home, the fog was even thicker and it was freezing, I was rather pleased that Daddy P had offered to pick us up from the station – brrrr.

Saturday 31st December – Day 366

Project 366 2016 Week 51-52

Well the last day of the year seems to be a rather dull and damp affair, but at least the fog has gone away.  We’ve had a chilled out day at home.  I tried to get something connected to our TV for Monkey as a review item but we just couldn’t get it to work.  So we have up on modern technology and turned to some Chalkola pens I’d been sent.  A few hours of drawing on the patio door glass has kept Monkey well amused.  Well impressed and it washes off easily too.  Full review in the new year.

Daddy P is meant to be home before Monkey goes to bed, but I’m sure I’ll end up seeing the new year in by myself whilst he snores away in the armchair!

Have a fab New Years Eve one and all and I look forward to catching up with you in 2017.

  1. What a shame he was so ill, but glad he recovered in time for Santa to make his deliveries.
Gosh at your cold and frosty weather, it has been warm enough up here not to need heating on a lot of the days.
Glad you all had a god Christmas and Monkey seems to be making the most of daddy being off.
Sometimes it is nice when they grow up but it is also sad that he manages his lego etc on his own now.
Happy new year to you and your family as well.

  2. I’m glad that Monkey was better in time for Christmas and you managed to catch up on your cancelled activities in the end. Love that their is a bit of a dog theme going on here. It made me laugh that you said you won’t be getting a dog!
Happy new year to you! x

  3. Glad Monkey is on the mend now. H has had a cold on and off for weeks – he doesn’t seem to be able to shake it off. It’s a pity it changed some of your plans.

  4. So glad Monkey was better in time for Christmas. It sounds like you had a lovely break. My kids love dogs. We are not getting one either! Happy New Year xx
