Project 365 2017 Week 4

Project 365 2017 Week 4 Day 22 – 28.  More painting and frosty mornings.

Sunday 22nd January  – Day 22

Project 365 2017 Week 4

Daddy P and Monkey headed to Alexandra Palace to look at a models exhibition.  I decided to stay at home and crack on with the second coat of glossing on the staircase.  I’m so pleased with the result.  Carried on painting with the front door and other areas.  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The boys had a good day out, and picked me up so we could have dinner at Brewers Fayre for a change.  Much appreciated as I was shattered.  Monkey even tried a few new things.

Monday 23rd January – Day 23

Project 365 2017 Week 4

I had my smear test this morning and wanted to write a post about the importance of having cervical screening. Brewster thought it would be great fun to pounce on my hand whenever I tried to type anything.

Monkey loved the Haggis meatballs he tried at Beavers this evening, of course, he creates merry hell when I serve up haggis at home!

Tuesday 24th January – Day 24

Project 365 2017 Week 4

It’s on days like this that I’m so relieved I don’t have to get behind the wheel of a car first thing in the morning.  It was so foggy on the walk to and from school this morning.  Another full of day of painting for me, who knew glossing doors could take so much time.

Wednesday 25th January – Day 25

Project 365 2017 Week 4

Bought some radiator paint and then realised that I’d need to have the heating off for over 24 hours.  That’s never going to happen with me at this time of year, so that part of the project is deferred until later in the year.  I’d also bought a large tin of magnolia emulsion so I could crack on with painting the walls downstairs.  Couldn’t complete the entire living room as Daddy P was trying to work and heave furniture needed moving.  But three-quarters done.

I’d been sent Walking Wounded for a book tour taking place next month.  I finished reading it today, and it’s so good. I’ll be writing my review up next month so watch this space.

Thursday 26th January – Day 26

Project 365 2017 Week 4

Another full on day of painting for me as I completed the walls in the living room and cloakroom and painted the window returns in white emulsion to try and bring a bit more light into the rooms.  I’d up-cycled the wooden toilet roll holder and towel holder in the cloakroom by priming them and then white glossing, really pleased with the result. More on that in a post next week.  Then it was on the walls up the stairs, Daddy P will have to finish the highest parts, but I painted as much as I can and it looks so much better.  You don’t realise how grubby walls get, do you.

I then moved the living room furniture around to try a few different options now we don’t have a fireplace.  Think I’ve finalised things.  The carpet/flooring quotes arrived and we’ll be sorting that all out on Sunday morning.

Monkey had his second after school one on one session with his teacher.  It seemed to go well, I think writing about butterflies might have helped.  We’ve decided that Thursdays is pizza in front of the telly dinner.  It gives Monkey something to look forward to after his long day at school and it’s a quick and easy meal.

Friday 27th January – Day 27

Project 365 2017 Week 4

A day off from the paint regime for me as I headed off to college after I’d walked Monkey to school.  We had to show some of our black and white portraits to the class and started to look at night photography.  I won’t be able to complete all of this week’s homework but hopefully I can stand outside our house one night and get some of street scene.

Caught up with 3 of my NCT buddies over lunch which was lovely.  Nice to have a day talking to adults rather than a paint pot.

After school Monkey was straight into the Koalapak activity pack we received as part of a prize I won before Christmas.

Saturday 28th January – Day 28

Project 365 2017 Week 4

Monkey got his topic homework about Mary Anning completed this morning without too many protestations.  After lunch we headed to Aylesbury with my friend L and her son C, to watch a performance of The Twits.  The theatre show was excellent and we all really enjoyed it.  Afterwards we headed to a local Harvester for dinner and then back to our house for some playtime before bedtime.

  1. your stair bannisters look so much better painted white – what a great improvement, so worth all of the hard work. it is lovely planning changes inside your home isn’t it? we are having some done and while I hate the mess, it will be worth it soon!
Brewster looks very cute and I love that he swatted to help with your blogging
I bet the Twits was brilliant – lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon. xx

  2. I’m impressed with all your painting! My husband is doing the same, but he only has weekends to work on it. It’s remarkable how much he gets done in that time though.
I had my smear test this week too. Not a lot of fun, but so important!
Glad Monkey’s after school sessions are going well.

  3. Sounds like a productive week in the house. Our whole house needs decorating and the kitchen really could do with being changed – so much of it is skewed/broken bits (plus I hate it). I’m impressed with your painting. I thought mine was ok in the bathroom but the OH wasn’t impressed.

  4. how much more painting is there to do? the stairs look really good, so much better white than the previous shade of brown. good move to wait to paint the radiators, hopefully it won’t be too long to wait for the warmer weather

  5. Sounds like a good, productive week. The painting is coming on really well, you must be so pleased with it all looking brighter x

  6. Painting does take time doesn’t it? I’m lucky that hubby does most it. (He did 2 years of apprenticeship…many moons ago!)
The stairs are looking nice and bright.
How funny that Monkey will taste things in Beavers and not like it home. My boys were the same when they went for tea at friends houses.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
