Project 365 2017 Week 16 Day 106 – 112
Sunday 16th April – Day 106
Easter Sunday and time for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny had been as generous as ever, and Monkey loved his little adventure.
We then headed to Worcestershire and Croome Court, a National Trust property I’ve wanted to visit for ages. It didn’t disappoint and has something for everyone. We had a quick pit stop at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway to look at some trains before heading into Cheltenham for dinner to end off a perfect day.
Monday 17th April – Day 107
Easter Monday and we headed down towards Henley to spend the day at Stonor Park. We had another great day. The house and gardens weren’t open until 1pm, so we headed to the adventure playground. Den building and pretend campfire building fun was had. We then spent some time deer spotting before having lunch and exploring the house and gardens.
We were close to Nuffield Place, which we hadn’t visited for some time, so we stopped there for a later afternoon tea before heading back home again.
Tuesday 18th April – Day 108
Daddy P was back to work and Monkey and I were shattered after a busy weekend. He caught up with some Lego building, whilst I tackled the washing mountain. Looking at him, I just marvel at his long legs, I swear he’s grown another inch in the last few weeks.
Wednesday 19th April – Day 109
We had a change of plans as my ex MIL isn’t well. I didn’t want to stray too far from home as we’ve got a busy few days ahead. The sun was out and it seemed a shame not to enjoy it. I consulted out National Trust book and soon realised that Canons Ashby is only half an hour away from us.
I’ve lived in North Oxfordshire/Northamptonshire for over 30 years and had never visited before. The house wasn’t open until 1pm, so we explored the gardens and parkland first. We even got to meet some unusual residents along the way. They have a great kids trail in the house, that Monkey really enjoyed. Canons Ashby is a little gem that we’ll return to again I’m sure.
Thursday 20th April – Day 110
Monkey and I headed off up to Derbyshire to spend a few days with my best friend. After lunch we visited an old favourite, Calke Abbey and enjoyed a walk around the estate.
Friday 21st April – Day 111
The weather was better than expected and to give me a day off from driving we decided to tackle a local walk which took in Melbourne and Breedon. There were some lovely views along the way, and 6 ½ miles later, we all deserved a good lunch.
Saturday 22nd April – Day 112
I decided to head home earlier than planned this morning. I’ve been struggling with not feeling too great and was worried about being stuck on the motorway for any length of time. We made it home ok, and Monkey wanted to chill out with some TV as he hasn’t watched any of his programmes for a few days. I’m just hoping my stomach sorts itself out so we can go to my eldest niece’s 21st birthday party tonight.
Hope you feel better later! We’ve got a party later too 🙂 It looks like you and Monkey have had a fun few days. I love that photo of him surrounded by all the branches. He definitely does look rather tall! My younger son overtook me about a month ago, so I’m now second smallest in the house! We used to love the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway and have been to see Father Christmas on it more times than I can possibly count!
I felt better as the day went on thanks, but still not 100%.
What a great collection of National Trust venues by you! I really hope your stomach feels better soon, it is always so annoying to feel just that threat of sickness isn’t it? #365
Some are further afield, but all within an hour and half
It looks like you has some great outdoor fun this week!
I hope you feel better soon x
We certainly made lots of memories
Hope you make it for the party. N’s not been feeling too well, and he’s missed the party he was due at today.
Impressive walking by Monkey. We did nearly 3 miles and that was it for us! We really need to do Canons Ashby properly given it’s only about 20 mins from us. Last time N refused to go in.
Give him countryside and sticks and he will walk for hours without too much fuss.
lots and lots of outdoor fun for you two this weeks, nice to see you with the good weather to allow you to do this.
Sorry the ex MIL is still not feeling well. Hope your tummy is feeling better and you have gone out.
We’ve been so lucky with the weather – it’s been great.
I hope your ex MIL feels better very soon and it does look like Monkey has shot up. How do they seem to do that overnight? Have a fun time at your nieces birthday!!
Thank you, unfortunately it looks like a lung condition has reared its head again, but even she made it to the party for a little bit yesterday.
What a busy week you’ve had., it’s really nice that Monkey enjoys going to those places too. He looks right at home outdoors. 🙂 I really miss going to National Trust properties, we might have outdoors hiking but we just don’t have a lot of History!
I’m lucky that he loves anywhere where he can find sticks!
Some lovely outdoor shots of your Easter holidays. We must get the National Trust book out again soon to try some new ones out.
Thanks – its my go to
I like the photo of Monkey at Calke Abbey. Lovely smiley face!
He has shot up hasn’t he?! Such long legs!
Thank you, yes, just had to give 5 pairs of trousers away!
hope ex MIL is feeling better and you managed to get out and enjoy your niece’s 21st birthday
what a great week you had with Monkey – all that exploring and getting out and about. we need to visit some new National Trust properties, but then again with one so close it is just easy to go there so much!
Burton has had another growth spurt so I need to go and buy him so more shorts and jumpers! X
It was a lovely week, so much nicer than a school week!
Hope you felt better quickly! What a lovely week you had, so many great walks and places to visit.
all was good in the end
