Having fun with BrickBox Club

Having fun with BrickBox Club

As my parents proclaimed when they were staying with us recently, ‘we’ve never seen so much Lego’, I guess it’s fair to say that my 7 year old son is rather addicted to the Danish construction bricks.  In fairness, I can remember being pretty much the same at his age, just with far less choice of sets to build.  Lego is the perfect toy for Monkey, he loves making up the various sets, but will often convert them into his own creations. I recently discovered a monthly subscription box service which would mean we would spend the holidays having fun with BrickBox Club.

BrickBox Club is a European company offering monthly themed Lego and Lego compatible kits delivered direct to your door.  The boxes are despatched in the third week of every month and we were looking forward to seeing what our package would contain.

I knew Monkey was going to be having fun with BrickBox Club as soon as I opened the box, the theme of the month being Lego Airport.  Rather apt seeing as his grandparents had just flown in from Spain and a sure-fire hit with my vehicle mad son.

He was eager to show his grandparents his Lego building skills, it had been a year since they’d seen his construction building for themselves, and he no longer needs help from any of us.  He’d received the boxed Lego 60100 City Airport Starter Construction Set, loose (I’m presuming so it all fitted neatly inside the BrickBox postage box) Lego 60144 Race Plane Building set and a Lego Mini figure Airport Employee.

Our pilot was the first to be put together and it wasn’t long before some serious Lego building was underway.

Monkey Airlines and postal delivery service was born and lots of adventures awaited.  The sets have led to lots of fun since our BrickBox Club box arrived.

You can sign up for a number of different subscriptions levels, from monthly, to annual plans, ranging from €24.99 down to €21.50 per month.  My only real niggle with having fun with BrickBox Club, is the delivery charge for each box despatched.  For orders despatched within Europe but outside of the Netherlands the charge is €9.99, which is a shame.  I hope that in the future, there would be a way to reduce this rate, to make the overall package a better deal.

The concept itself I do like.  My son would certainly like to receive a mystery themed box of Lego and Lego compatible pieces each month.  I’m sure he’s not alone.  You can make use of a 10% discount code using 40ANDAMUM which is valid until 31st July 2017 with BrickBox Club.
