The Jungle Book and Other Classics

The Jungle Book and Other Classics – giveaway

One of the first films my son ever watched was the Disney classic, The Jungle Book.  Over the last few years we’ve read picture books based on the film, but we’ve not tackled the book that the film was actually based on.  That was until recently, anyway.  Published through Sterling Books in April, we’ve been looking at The Jungle Book and Other Classics recently.

The Jungle Book and Other Classics

The 286 page hardback book,  The Jungle Book and Other Classics, features The Jungle Book, The Second Jungle Book and Kim is the kind of book to buy and treasure.  We’ve been taking our time reading this book, as it’s really designed for older secondary school children to read independently as it really is a ‘proper book’ (my son’s words).

The stories really are classic tales and The Jungle Book and Other Classics would be a great addition for any bookcase.  I know that we’re going to love discovering the words of Rudyard Kipling together and that this will be well read in the years ahead.  This is a bargain in my opinion and I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link for you here.

  1. Shere Khan, because when we were small children my little brother misheard and referred to him as Sheer Crunch.

  2. What’s your favourite character from The Jungle Book and why? Mowgli .. . . . . so full of fun

  3. I’ve always loved Baloo since I was little and now its our daughters favourite Jungle Book character too x

  4. I love Baloo because he’s such a character, and although he can be a bit of an idiot he’s so loyal

  5. Baloo Not only was Baloo so great in terms of his personality, but his role in the story was even better. He’s there to show Mowgli that he should use his unique abilities as a human no matter what others think

  6. It’s a difficult choice between Bagheera and Balloo the bear … they both look out for Mowgli and teach him valuable life lessons.

  7. Bagheera, the wise, brave, protective and caring panther, he has a tough exteria but a soft and caring inside!

  8. Baloo because be spoke up for Mowgli because he wanted to save him – not because he wanted to kill him. He also taught Mowgli everything he needed to know to survive.

  9. My favourite is Bagheera. He is sharp, intelligent, cunning, and ferocious and yet his voice is as soft & gentle as a baby lullaby! The jungle creatures respect Bagheera for being fierce but he is logical and sensible and does his utmost to look after Mowgli. He seems to be the only character who understands the jungle isn’t safe for Mowgli with Shere Khan on the scene!

  10. For me it has to be Hathi the elephant because I just love organising and being organised!!

  11. I always love Kaa! I love the way he slinks around, his lisp and his mesmerising eyes!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
