There’s something so intriguing about magnets isn’t there?  They’ve fascinated me since childhood and my 7-year-old son seems to be fixated with them too.  I’m hoping to have a few adventures with him over the summer holidays so I’m always on the lookout for something that will entertain us while we’re away, and is easy to pack up and carry in a bag or case.  I found the perfect game recently, easily transportable, fun and there’s a magnet connection! Bellz! Magnetic Game from Spin Master UK is also rather addictive.

Bellz! Magnetic Game

The Bellz! Magnetic Game is aimed at anyone aged 6 years and over, and trust me it’s been just a bigger hit here with the adults as it has with my son. The game comes with a zip-up travel pouch that doubles up as the play zone,a magnetic wand with each end having different magnetic strength and 40 bells in 4 different bright colours, each in 3 different sizes.  The game can be played with 2-4 players.

Setting up the game ready to play is so easy, unzip the pouch and spread the bells out and it’s game on.

The idea of the game is to be the first player to collect all the bells of one colour, using the wand provided.  The larger end of the wand has the greatest magnetic strength and can pick up a string of bells at the same time.  But don’t mix your colours!

Use the smaller end of the wand to pick up bells stuck in tricky positions, but again be careful not to pick up another colour.

Pick a player to start the Bellz! Magnetic Game and they tell the players which coloured bells they will try to collect. If they pick up only the colour the nominated they get to keep the bells, if they collect all of the bells in that colour they win.  It sounds so easy, doesn’t it?  But believe me, this game is really rather tricky.  Should you end up picking up different colour bells with the wand, they all go back onto the pouch and play passes on to the next player, who chooses their own colour to collect.

Bellz! Magnetic Game

My son and I have played this game a few times now, and neither of us has fully mastered it yet.

I thought my 7-year-old might get a bit frustrated when he didn’t win easily, but quite the contrary.  He finds this game really entertaining and actually doesn’t mind it when he doesn’t get the correct coloured bells on the wand.  It’s fun and he’s certainly enjoyed playing it.

We’ve also played Bellz! Magnetic Game with our own rules.  Trying to collect all the same sized bells across the colours has been a particular favourite.  We both give this game a big thumbs up and it will certainly be coming with us on our summer adventures.
