Project 365 2017 Week 28-29 Day 190 – 203

Sunday 9th July –  Day 190

Project 365 2017 Week 28

We started our day at the Midland Air Museum, next to Coventry Airport.  There are lots of planes to see from across the years and we saw a different boy today.  It seems that Monkey wanted to add airplane cockpits to his list of new viewing points this year.  He actually climbed into this Meteor cockpit by himself.  Amazing, another fear conquered and this was the day sorted, as he went from one display to another, climbing up ladders and taking to the controls.  Wonderful.  The Vulcan Bomber was a rung too much for him to climb, but he’d done brilliantly. From there we headed next door to the Electric Railway Museum, before finishing our day out at Hatton Locks.

Monday 10th July – Day 191

Project 365 2017 Week 28

It’s been an inset day here, so Monkey and I headed off to Legoland for some fun.  The weather was perfect and it wasn’t too busy at all.  We had a lovely day and Monkey came home with a new Lego Bus.

Tuesday 11th July – Day 192

Project 365 2017 Week 28

Transition day at school and thankfully Monkey came out buzzing about his new teacher and classroom.  Phew. We’d both bought mini figure key rings at Legoland yesterday, Monkey said I had to have Catwoman. Seems like a good choice and today I added her to my key ring.

Also had a catch up with an old friend which was lovely.  The time always goes way too fast and we’re hoping to have a night out together in September.

Wednesday 12th July – Day 193

Project 365 2017 Week 28

I had a busy day getting things sorted for my weekend at Silverstone as well as things for our trip to Spain.  Monkey came out of school in a good mood.  I’d sorted through his dressing up clothes and so many of them are now too small for him.  Time to pass them on to school to make use of.  But apparently the pirate eye patch has to stay.

Thursday 13th July – Day 194

Project 365 2017 Week 28

A busy day catching up on blog work for me and getting my pack up sorted for Silverstone in the morning.  Monkey has been talking non stop about aeroplanes since the weekend and spent ages studying one of his reference books after school.

Friday 14th July – Day 195

Project 365 2017 Week 28

That time of year again as I headed off to Practice Day for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone with my brother and left Daddy P in charge at home.  Also the first time I got to try out my 70-300mm lens at the track.  I was so pleased with the results, I took over 1000 shots today – eek! We had a great day, saw a lot of the drivers although Kimi Raikkonen signing my Ferrari cap still didn’t happen.  But Vettel was as lovely as ever.

Saturday 15th July – Day 196

Project 365 2017 Week 28

Qualifying Day at Silverstone, and my nephew joined us for the rest of the weekend.  We had roving tickets for Friday and Saturday and decided to spend the day in the Becketts grandstands after seeing the drivers going into the paddock first thing.  The views were great but blimey was it cold in that grandstand.  I had 4 layers on, but needed gloves as well as my fingertips went numb.  It was a good qualifying session but we need rain tomorrow or otherwise Hamilton is likely to run away with the race.

Sunday 16th July – Day 197

Project 365 2017 Week 29

Race day! We forgo seeing the drivers first thing and headed to our grandstand seats in Club.  Coffee’s purchased we made ourselves comfortable on the back row, knowing we should get some good shots and not have any heads in the way.  The forecasted rain didn’t materialise until after the race, and Hamilton had really won it on the first corner.  Both Ferrari’s had last minute issues with tyres and we were lucky to get Kimi home on the podium.  It might not have been the result I wanted, but it had been another great weekend.

We managed to get onto the track just as the trophies were being awarded and watched as Lewis crowd surfed close by.

Monday 17th July – Day 198

Project 365 2017 Week 29

Back to reality.  I’d gone to bed before Monkey last night as I was shattered.  Still feel exhausted this morning as we headed off to school.  Only I could have booked a dentist appointment for the morning after a Grand Prix weekend. Luckily it was all ok, and I headed home and back to bed for a few hours.

Daddy P was meant to have got Monkey to do his homework on Saturday, but of course, that never happened.  I had one very unimpressed son when I told him it needed to be done this afternoon.  He stormed off to his bedroom and I found him curled up under his duvet.  We had a chat and before too ling he’d come back downstairs, got on with his homework and was off having fun.

Our Scout Group had an end of year family BBQ after Beavers and we both enjoyed it.  Monkey had even tried archery today, although he forgot to tell them that he’s left-handed.

Tuesday 18th July – Day 199

Project 365 2017 Week 29

Monkey had a parents open afternoon today and we’d been asked to bake something for the kids to sell.  We took the honey biscuits in that we’d made the night before.  They don’t look great but they taste amazing.  Brewster decided that he’d be taking things easy today, just for a change.

Monkey came home with the papier-mache lighthouse he’d made, it’s rather large and is now living in his bedroom.

Wednesday 19th July – Day 200

Project 365 2017 Week 29

I had a load of errands to run in the morning and then popped into see my SIL and BIL for a cuppa and a catch up. He’s had so many health issues over the last year, it seems never-ending for him, and he’s 83 so life isn’t always kind.

I took Monkey to have his hair cut after school at the barbers.  He agreed to try a number 5 with the clippers and let the lady put some wax in his hair.  He barely spoke to her, but each trip is getting easier all round.  He looks very smart, although you can’t tell behind his disguise!

Thursday 20th July – Day 201

Project 365 2017 Week 29

What a day!  It was pouring with rain this morning on the way to school.  I did get to admire my neighbours roses in the rain on the way home though.  By lunchtime I’d got the light on as I tried to work as it was so dark.  Finally the sun decided to show its face and it remembered that it’s supposed to be summertime.

Monkey came home with the Rainforest he’d made earlier in the year, that’s moved into his bedroom too!  He also came home with a school yearbook – of god I’m going to spend tomorrow in tears, if that’s anything to go by.  Clearly, my quiet, shy little boy has some friends who think he’s awesome.  Lovely to read.

Curry night with the girls – yum.

Friday 21st July – Day 202

Project 365 2017 Week 28-29

The last day of Year Two and thankfully we both got through it without any tears.  I got my nails done this morning all ready for our trip to Spain next week and got a few things sorted out, before heading home to tackle the washing and ironing.

Monkey was the first one out the door this afternoon, he’s certainly ready for the summer holidays to begin.

Saturday 22nd July – Day 203

Project 365 2017 Week 28-29

We started the day with a bit of Lego construction before heading over to Banbury to spend the day with my ex-MIL. We got to see my eldest niece briefly too, her baby bump is coming along very nicely now.  The rain poured down as we headed home.  We’ve got a quiet couple of days ahead before the two of us fly off to Spain.

Glad Monkey is happy with his teacher choice for next year.

  3. Your boy is so so like my boy that these posts always make me smile. Aiden would have absolutely loved your Sunday and Monday with all the planes and lego land! Ooo and I want to see just how giant the giant lighthouse is #365

  4. Sorry to hear about your BIL, I hope his health issues ease up. It’s never nice to be suffering for so long :(. Legoland sounds a lot of fun. I really want to go but I’m not sure whether it might be the right time with out toddler!

  5. The British grand prix passed me by this year as did the end of Wimbledon and I’m wondering what else has happened that I|’m not aware of. Monkey is right, you can never out grow an eye patch. A great lego week all round, my boys loved the stuff and we’ve lugged crates of it around the world to keep for when they have kids of their own
