Farm Friends Escape!

Farm Friends Escape! – a book review

I’m sure I’m not alone in having a child who loves visiting farms to see all the animals.  At the moment my son is currently obsessed with cows for some reason.  So we make a beeline for them whenever we are near farm animals.  I thought he’d enjoy reading Farm Friends Escape! which is perfect for children aged between 6-10 years of age.

Farm Friends Escape!

Written by Gail Herman and distributed through GMC Distribution, Farm Friends Escape! is part story book, part reference book and it uses both illustrations and photographs to help tell the tale.

Farm Friends Escape!

The 112 page chapter book has been a hit with my 7 year old son.  Ever the reluctant reader, he’s been happy for me to read the story to him.  We follow cousins Luke and Sarah as they help out at their grandparents’ petting zoo in Massachusetts during the summer holidays.

My son loved the idea of hay bale mazes.  We’ve not seen one of those ourselves, but today we’ll be getting lost in a maize maze instead.

As the children spend time on the petting zoo they get to work helping to mend fences, painting shelters and familiarising themselves with the various animals.

Farm Friends Escape!

It’s opening day at the petting zoo in Farm Friends Escape!, the children have chosen the animals to display and filled the food machines and soap dispensers. Luke thinks that running the zoo will be easy, but he soon realises there’s more to it as he has to stop a little girl from eating goat droppings. After a busy day the children sleep well.

The next morning there’s a crisis as the cows have escaped! But it’s not just the cows, all of the animals have run away. How could they have got out, where could they be?  The children have to follow clues to get to the bottom of the mystery.

I won’t ruin the end of the story, but we’ve enjoyed reading Farm Friends Escape! Priced at £4.99 I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link below.  This is one of a series of Animal Planet Adventure books and we’ll be looking to add more to our bookshelf soon.
