Having fun with Paddington 2 on DVD

Having fun with Paddington 2 on DVD #Paddington2DVD

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been a fab of the little bear from darkest Peru since I was a little girl, when my Uncle gave me a copy of Paddington Bear to read.  I’ve still got that book and am now sharing it with my son.  But we’ve also been having fun with Paddington 2 on DVD, as today sees it’s release.

To celebrate the release of Paddington 2 on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD + Blu-ray today we were set the marmalade challenge and asked to make our own marmalade sandwich.  We cheated a bit as we actually made two, one with Paddington, complete with icing eyes, nose and red hat! and one of his suitcase.  Apparently they tasted great but my 8 year old son had gobbled them both up before I got a chance to photograph him with them!  He’s very much like Paddington Bear at times you know!

Once my son had devoured his marmalade sandwiches we sat down to enjoy the Paddington 2 DVD together.  My son isn’t a great fan of the cinema so we often wait for films to be released on DVD before we get to enjoy them.  It’s fair to say that my son giggled his way through this film and it’s something we’ve both enjoyed watching.

The film is a great sequel and the animation of this endearing bear is just as wonderful as you would expect.  we find Paddington very much at home with the Brown family and loved by them and the majority of their neighbours too.

Paddington has been thinking a lot about his Aunt Lucy back in Peru, she would have loved to visit London when she was younger.  He’s trying to find the perfect present to send her for her 100th birthday when he visits Mr Gruber and his antique shop.  There he discovers an old pop up book of the city, a perfect gift, but it’s very expensive.  Paddington will have to get a job to pay for it.

There starts a whole comedy of errors in itself.  A trip to an old steam fair, sees him helping his neighbour, a washed up actor called Phoenix Buchanan, (played brilliantly by Hugh Grant) opening the fair.  Paddington mentions the pop up book to him and there the fun really begins.

The book gets stolen and poor Paddington ends up being sent to prison.  The Heyday Films and STUDIOCANAL production really is very good. My son and I had no idea that steam trains feature towards the end of the film, and that just added the marmalade to the sandwich for my son.  He loved it.
