Taking the Subway Kids Eat Free Day Out challenge

Taking the Subway Kids Eat Free Day Out challenge #KidsEatFree

We never let rain stop play here and with the weather forecast for the next few weeks looking less than bright and sunny, it’s just as well.  But whilst I’m all for getting out of the house, I’m on a budget and need to save the pennies whenever I can.  With that in mind we’ve been taking the Subway Kids Eat Free Day Out challenge.

Are you aware that Subway stores across GB (England, Wales and Scotland) are running a great promotion this month where kids eat for free?  Well we needed to check this out for ourselves and I thought we’d have a bit of fun along the way.

We have a very active rock painting group in our town, and I know that’s it’s a craze that’s swept the nation.  So we decided to start our day taking the Subway Kids Eat Free Day Out challenge by hiding some rocks of our own and looking for others.  It’s a great free activity and one my son has even done with his class at school. We headed off to our local woods so my son could let off steam, hide his rocks and have some outdoors fun, for free.

We love going on a nature walk, we walked the plank and of course no outdoors walk with my son is complete without a stick for a companion.

After a lovely couple of hours in the woods we decided to make a quick stop at our local park.  The forecasted rain had still not arrived and my son decided to try the zip wire for the very first time!  One proud Mummy moment as we were taking the Subway Kids Eat Free Day Out challenge

It wasn’t long before the immortal words ‘Mummy I’m hungry’ were ringing in my ears.  Time to put Subway to the test, and try out their Kids Eat Free deal which is running  in participating stores across GB until 17th April 2018. Basically for every Six-inch meal deal purchased you receive one free Kids’ Pack.  The Six-Inch meal deal includes a Six-inch Sub or Flatbread, a regular 455ml dispensed drink or regular 341ml hot drink, with a cookie or crisps.

I opted for Chicken Tikka with added cheese, onion, cucumber and a dash of mayonnaise, with a Latte and crisps for my Six-inch meal deal.  Then it was over to my son to pick his free Kids’ Pack meal – he opted for Ham, although he could have picked chicken or turkey breast or a veggie delite.

There’s a great salad bar at Subway and my son asked for cheese, cucumber and black olives to be added to his sub, along with a little mayonnaise.  So he ticked off a few of his 5 a day with his healthy lunch, as well as it being low in fat, saturated fat and sugars and a great source of protein.  Happy days and even better that he ate for free.

We’ve got a few city trips planned over the Easter holidays and I’ll be looking for the nearest Subway branches so we can make use of the Kids Eat Free deal again.  It’s a bargain and if you’re looking for a healthy meal option where kids eat free this Easter then we can thoroughly recommend the Subway deal.

After our lunch we decided we’d walk home along one of the free 5k walks that run through our town.  The perfect way to end our free day out, and the rain waited to pour down until after we’d got home!  Perfect.

disclosure:  we are being compensated for this post but my opinions remain my own.

  1. This is a great way to maximise a day out without adding to the cost. We always opt for a Subway if we spot them when we’re out and about.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
