At the weekend we spent Easter Sunday enjoying the World of Dinosaurs and more at Paradise Wildlife Park and we ended up looking for a very different kind of egg than on a normal Easter Egg hunt! Paradise Wildlife Park is based in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire and their new World of Dinosaurs attraction opened on 24th March 2018.
It was our first visit to the park and I’d heard good reports, so we were all looking forward to our day out.
There’s plenty of on site free parking and a toilet block before the entrance which is handy if you’ve travelled any distance with children. The park is based across two areas with a pedestrian crossing to get you from one area to the other. This is manned be staff and features a zebra crossing.
The World of Dinosaurs is on one side of the park along with the main restaurant, play area and Safari Stage.
My son is train mad and he was beside himself when he spotted the Rex Express. This is extra to your entrance at £2 per person, but my son loved it and it gives you a taste of what’s to come inside the World of Dinosaurs as the train takes around part of the enclosure.
It certainly wetting the appetite of my dinosaur hunter and as soon as the train pulled back into the station he was off following the dinosaur tracks, passing under the rib bone arches and headed into a different world. A world full of animated dinosaurs, small and large, we even saw some dinosaur eggs.
The World of Dinosaurs features 30 life-size animatronics dinosaurs, some also making sounds and is one of the largest of its kind in the UK. There are ones protecting their young, some being savagely attacked, whilst some are just munching away quietly on the vegetation.
Only the most intrepid explorers will dare to take the jeep and face the T-Rex.
You can even imagine that you’re hatching out of a dinosaur egg!
All of the dinosaurs have information points so avid dinosaur fans can read up about the Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus and the Velociraptor to name a few. It’s all very well done, with a clear one way route through the adventure, and you can walk around the trail as often as you like. There are wardens on hand to keep an eye on everyone to make sure the dinosaurs don’t break out of their enclosures at any time.
My son really enjoyed this part of the park and he was spellbound throughout.
But we were all looking forward to seeing what else the park has to offer. Enjoying the World of Dinosaurs and more at Paradise Wildlife Park as we were soon to discover that it’s heaven for big cat fans like us. There are a number of glass viewing windows around the enclosures as well as elevated viewing platforms which really added to the whole experience.
We got to see two beautiful Jaguars play fighting, a cheetah right up close as well as sleeping Amur tigers, snow leopard and lionesses.
The white tiger was a highlight for all of us as he walked up and down right in front of us. Such a beautiful creature. We were in awe of his size and beauty. I wish we could have stayed until 5pm for big cat feeding time but by then my son was really tired and we had a long journey home.
We even got to see the Lion roar which was a real lion king moment to treasure although I didn’t capture that on film, only when he was asleep.
The Ocelot remained hiding all day so we never got to admire him maybe on our next visit.
Enjoying the World of Dinosaurs and more at Paradise Wildlife Park as we got to see a number of beautiful animals from around the world such as firm family favourites, the Meerkats, Penguins and a Red Panda.
Lizards, Snakes and Monkey’s galore. Birds of Prey, Parrots, Tapirs and there’s even a few farm animals to say hello to too.
If you need a break from seeing all the animals, there are a number of play areas as well as some chargeable amusements.
We had a full day of fun enjoying our first visit to Paradise Wildlife Park and I’m sure it won’t be our last trip. For opening times, pricing and other information pop over to their website.
disclosure: we were given complimentary access to the park in exchange for an honest review
