You all know that we are massive fans of Cressida Cowell in this household. Even more so since my son got to meet her not so long ago. Earlier this month saw the release of the paperback version of The Wizards of Once. The first in a new series of books, featuring the warrior princess Wish and her supposed arch-enemy Xar of the Wizards.
We’ve almost finished reading our hardback copy of The Wizards of Once and both my eight year old son and I can thoroughly recommend it. If you were fans of the How to Train Your Dragon series, then you will really enjoy this new series too. We may not see any dragons in this new series, but there are witches and wizards, sprites and snowcats to keep you on your toes.
To celebrate the paperback release of The Wizards of Once Hachette Children’s Group has released a live action short video based on the two main characters from the book who meet in the Wildwood.
But in this film, the action doesn’t take place in the mysterious Wildwood but somewhere closer to home. But magic still features heavily.
The book itself has already won the 2018 Blue Peter Award for Best Story and DreamWorks will be turning the story into an animated film. We are eagerly awaiting the publication of The Wizards of Once: Twice Magic in September this year as the first adventure has really caught my son’s imagination again.
I’ve teamed up with Hachette Children’s Group to offer five lucky readers the chance to own a paperback copy of The Wizards of Once Just complete the Gleam form below for your chance to win. Good luck!
