Getting outdoors with Mae Sandals from Hotter

As warmer days seem to finally be upon us I’ve been looking for footwear that could cope with a variety of terrains and offer comfort and support whilst still working with all sorts of outfits.  I’ve been getting outdoors with Mae sandals from Hotter, and they came into their own on my recent trip to Portugal.

I really want some Hotter that will work for me during warmer days, now that I’ve put my trusty boots away for a while.  As much as a love flip-flop type sandals, they just don’t work for me when I’m doing a lot of walking in different terrains.  I knew I wanted something with a heel strap so they wouldn’t fall off or slip but I still wanted to feel as if I was wearing sandals.  Also something that was going to save me from blisters, especially as I was going on holiday, was a must.

Getting outdoors with Mae sandals from Hotter couldn’t have been better timed, as they arrived just before we left for Portugal. I knew we’d spend a lot of time exploring the Algarve, and I knew as soon as I put them on that they would be perfect for the journey ahead.  The OH might have been rather impressed with my minimal footwear packing too!
The Mae sandals have adjustable straps across the toes, ankles and heels to really provide the perfect fit.  I opted for a size 5.5 in Pebble Grey, but they are also available in Salmon, Dark Stone, Aquamarine and Blue River.  They have a cushioned footbed and are perfect for outdoors adventures.  My feet are slightly different sizes, which I’ve heard is fairly normal, so having the fit flexibility that these straps offer is perfect for me.
Over the last few weeks I really put the Mae sandals to the test as I’ve walked on sand, dirt tracks, slippery cobbled streets, around Roman ruins, and climbed up and down numerous castle ruins too.  They’ve walked me to the most westerly tip of the Algarve and kept me steady as I’ve climbed really steep tracks on our adventures.

They’ve kept me sure-footed at all times and have been so comfy to wear.  I’ve had no issue with rubbing or blisters and getting outdoors with Mae Sandals from Hotter has been a great success.

I’ve found them so versatile too.  I tend to live in three-quarter length trousers during the summer at home, and on holiday too, judging by these shots!  But they’ve worked just as well with dresses and jeans.  I’ve been really impressed with them over the last couple of weeks and know they will be seeing me right on all sorts of adventures over the months ahead.
