Packed lunch ready with Eat Well UK

Packed lunch ready with Eat Well UK – review and giveaway

My son has had school dinners since they were first introduced in his school with the free school meals scheme.  He’s had them ever since, although in Year Three he started asking if he could have sandwiches.  I’ve always said no as I think it’s important for him to have a cooked meal at lunchtime but when we looked at the menu he’d be having in Year Four for this next term I knew we’d have an issue.  On at least one day in the three-week rota he wouldn’t like either of the options available.  He’s not a fan of potatoes either, so a jacket potato is a non starter.  So I’ve relented and we are going to try a mix and match approach this term where he won’t have to have a school dinner every day.  We are going to be packed lunch ready with Eat Well UK by making the most of their Panino sized Yumbox and Montii Insulated Lunch Bag.

Eat Well UK supply a range of products which are just perfect for children to use at school, as well as at the weekend when they are going on adventures.  The Yumbox is a Bento style lunchbox which is available in a few different sizes and a range of colours.  We decided on the Panino size as it offers one larger compartment, ideal for sandwiches, as well as three smaller sections for sides.  My son opted for the Neptune blue option as he liked the pattern inside the compartments.

The integrated lid of the Panino Yumbox is silicone lined so it perfectly seals each section of the lunchbox meaning it’s leakproof and therefore perfect for dips, yogurts and the like. It also means that you don’t need extra packaging, which is great as we’ve always resorted to cling filming everything when my son has been on school trips.

The compartment try can be lifted out of the Yumbox for easy cleaning, and the lunchbox is dishwasher safe too.  The lid fastening latch is sturdy but easy for children to open and my son loves the fact it looks like some super cool storage box.  It measures approx 22 x 15 x 5 cms and weighs 490g.

We wanted to have a trial run of being packed lunch ready with Eat Well UK, before he goes back to school on Thursday.  The compartments are great for helping with portion control and the no mess aspect has been a big hit with both of us.  I can see raspberries actually making it into school without turning to pulp, which has happened with a normal snack pot I’ve sent him in with before.

We did find the sandwich a bit of a squeeze, but the lid still closed down well and the sandwich wasn’t squashed.

It’s been a big hit with my son and he’s now packed lunch ready with Eat Well UK, and raring to go.

You can actually make up the Yumbox the night before, store it in the fridge over night and then you’re ready to go to school in the morning.  We needed a proper lunch bag for my son to use for his lunch box and drinks bottle and the Montii Insulated Lunch bag.

We opted for the Galaxy version of the Montii as it goes well with his Yumbox, and he isn’t big on patterns these days, but there are six different designs available in this range. The lunch bag is supplied with its own self contained gel ice pack and cover.  Once frozen, this ice pack fits into a separate zipped pocket on the back of the lunch bag which keeps it away from any food stored in the main compartment.

The main zipped compartment of the Montii lunch bag features a name label section on the lid, the bag has an aluminium lining with thick insulation to keep food cool and fresh.  It’s also easy to wipe clean and there’s also a mesh pocket where we will keep paper towels.

The inside bag measures are approx 23.5cm x 28cm x 7.5cm and the bag also has a carry handle.

We are packed lunch ready with Eat Well UK and the Montii fits my son’s new Yumbox and his water bottle perfectly, with room for a piece of fruit.

  1. I’d choose the Montii Insulated Lunchbag – Mermaid and or the Yumbox Tapas (4 compartment Flamingo tray) – Antibes Blue. I’m so impressed with these products!

  2. Awww, how lovely! I’d love to treat my little ones with Yumbox Panino – Neptune blue and Montii g Flamingo. Thank you for the chance.

  3. id get the Yumbox Panino and the flamingo Montii!

me and my little lady would prob fight over it though! haha

  4. The yumbox panino in Malibu purple and the unicorn insulated lunch bag! I don’t know if I want these for my daughter or myself!

  5. I think I’d choose the Flat Iron Grey Yumbox Tapas (this is a great addition to the range, I love Yumboxes but often find them a tad small or wish I could have 1 more or less compartments so this looks ideal) and I think it would have to be the Galaxy Montii Insulated Lunchbag 🙂

  6. It depends whether I decided to keep it myself, which would make it pink, or give it to my daughter who would love the galaxy.

  7. I’d pick the yumbox classic in surf green. Kids would pick blue and pink lol. I also love the cutters and bottles.

  8. I would choose a blue yumbox classic as my son likes a selection of picky food instead of sandwiches and the superhero montii bag.

  9. what a fab website. My daughter would love the mermaid or pink flamingo design. I love the insulated lunchbox. It looks the perfect size x

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
