Project 365 2018 Week 38 Days 259 – 265
Sunday 16th September – Day 259
We’d got home really late from yesterday’s party so had a later start to today than we’d originally planned. We headed over to the other side of Milton Keynes to enjoy an afternoon at the Bedfordshire Steam Fair. It’s by far the best show we’ve been to, with a really large range of steam-powered vehicles. The weather really took us by surprise, should have packed suncream!
Monday 17th September – Day 260
What a day and not in a good way.
I’d been feeling really weird when we got back home yesterday, and just thought I was tired, but this morning I woke up feeling really light-headed and just strange. I got through work and then headed home for my ‘go to’ fix me lunch of Marmite on toast and settled down on the sofa to watch the Singapore Grand Prix, I wasn’t good for anything else.
Cubs was a nightmare and in the end I had to stay for the whole session. There was no way he was staying without me. I have no idea what to do for the best now. He was doing so well last term and does enjoy it when I’m not there. I am all out of ideas and energy.
Tuesday 18th September – Day 261
Swapped feeling spaced out for just feeling shattered, didn’t get much sleep thinking about my son and the best way forward. Something else ‘arrived’ this morning which might explain the spaced out feeling, another weird symptom to add to the list of my monthly joys these days.
Today my son is taking a packed lunch to school for the first time, we’d looked at the menu for this term and there was nothing he’d eat on this day so I relented and let him swap for one day every three weeks. He’d like to change to packed lunch every day, I wouldn’t, so let’s see how today goes!
Brewster had his annual boosters. He’s been fighting a lot later so looks a bit battered and has managed to scrape skin off around his neck so I’ve come home with some fluid to wipe his wounds with. That’ll be fun, looking at that face! He’s not letting me anywhere near him.
Wednesday 19th September – Day 262
Feeling much more human today. After work I popped round to see a friend for a pastry and a cuppa. We had a good catch up and both let out some frustrations.
Daddy P had bought home some different carrot varieties for us to try. Needless to say that my son took one look at the purple and yellow ones and declared them disgusting.
Thursday 20th September – Day 263
As I got dressed this morning my son sat on my bed and looked through my Grand Prix programme. I was rather happy that he settled on the pages relating to James Hunt. It was a wet walk to school. Daddy P’s niece has had an operation and is out of action for the next four weeks so we also walked her daughter to school.
I caught up with some blog work and then after school I had the chance to meet his teacher properly for the first time. A first for our school and such a good idea in my opinion. I’ve always thought it was total madness that parents haven’t got to meet their child’s teacher until the end of October/beginning of November at parents evening. He told us how the Year 4/5 group would be working and I liked his approach. We will see how things pan out. I also finally had the email confirming our SEN introduction meeting for next week. I think it will be too generalised as it’s a group meeting but hopefully I will have a few answers or at least be in a position to push for more information before parents evening.
Had a Facetime chat with my youngest niece as she walked to work in NZ. As I’m winding down for the evening she’s already celebrating her birthday on Friday morning.
Friday 21st September – Day 264
My youngest niece turns 20 today, and she’s celebrating it in New Zealand for the first time. She reminded me yesterday that this time last year I went to London with her when she sorted out the medical for her visa. Time just flies too quickly.
Jeans for Genes day at school, and the first time my son took charge of handing in his money to his teacher.
A good few hours at work and catch up time with blog stuff before picking up my son from school. Homework equalled a meltdown so we left that for today. He also brought a note home from his teacher asking to talk to us about targets for my son this year. So two meetings now for next week.
My son loves Cressida Cowell and had been eagerly awaiting the publication of the next Wizards of Once book. It came out yesterday and I’d ordered it from Amazon to come today in time for bedtime. It arrived at 8.30pm! Second time they’ve delivered to me at that time of night, I’m not keen on deliveries at that time of night.
Saturday 22nd September – Day 265
The weather forecast wasn’t looking great and we decided to have a day at home. My son knuckled down and got his homework done. Part of it he just didn’t get, so we’ve left it for his teacher to explain.
Then it was on to something fun. We’d been sent a robotics set for review and my son couldn’t wait to get started. He did really well building it with me just playing an assistant’s role. We didn’t discover that the batteries were duds until he’d finished the build. Cue a few tears and Mummy to the rescue.
