Project 365 2018 Week 42 Days 287 – 293
Sunday 14th October – Day 287
A magical day.
We’d decided to celebrate my son’s birthday a couple of months early and surprised him with a trip on the Bluebell Line down in Sussex. He spent almost two hours in the car believing we were going to a garden for the day, before the penny dropped. Not only http://www.steamtrain.co.uk/did he spend the day exploring a train line he’s always wanted to visit, but Union of South Africa, one of the last remaining A4 Pacific locos (his favourites) was running. That made his day, but it just got better. The Eastleigh Lakeside Railway were also running their miniature A4 Sir Nigel Gresley, so he got to ride on that too. But the most magical part of the day was looking at this face, when we got to stand on the footplate of Union of South Africa in between runs. It was a priceless moment, better than any birthday present I could buy.
It was very late by the time we got home, but it was worth it.
Monday 15th October – Day 288
We were all shattered after yesterday but my son was in a better mood in the morning that I’d expected.
After work I picked up my friend L and we made use of a voucher I had for our lunch at Stansfield and Hoole. I had a Chicken, Bacon and Avocado baguette and it was delicious. It was lovely to catch up for a couple of hours.
It was much easier to get my son to Cubs this evening than it has been recently, which was a pleasant surprise. He skipped there and back. Result.
Tuesday 16th October – Day 289
My boss had asked me to swap days, so I worked today rather than tomorrow and then caught up with some blog work before picking my son up from school.
Someone was ready to pounce on anyone passing by.
Wednesday 17th October – Day 290
My OH’s niece has been off work (she’s a teacher at school) since almost the start of term since she had an operation and I’ve been taking her to school most mornings. This morning was my last walk with her and they gave me a rather large bottle of gin and some tonic water as a thank you. It was a lovely surprise and will be much appreciated.
I caught up with some shopping and jobs at home before popping round to see my friend A for a cuppa and a catch up before school finished for the day.
After school my son decided to have his own Grand Prix, yes Suzanne he really does love the cars you gave him.
Thursday 18th October – Day 291
A morning spent catching up with blog work ahead of half term – eek! After lunch I headed into school for a parents afternoon where I got to see a bit of my son’s work and watch the class making bread. My son decided to make his initials and I was tasked with carrying them on the walk home so we could bake them. His TA told me what a joy he is to have in the class, which was lovely to hear as he’s so quiet at school.
He does have a lovely smile when he wants to show it.
Friday 19th October – Day 292
A really foggy and cold start to the day. Brrr. This isn’t in black and white but was the view on my walk back from taking my son to school this morning. By the time I’d finished work the sun was out and it was lovely.
Big excitement at work this morning as one of the units across from us repairs old tanks. Yes, full size tanks. We got to watch them manoeuvre one into their workshop. I wish my son had been there to watch it. Bizarre the things you see in an industrial park.
Saturday 20th October – Day 293
We’d been invited up to Twycross Zoo for the day to see The Great Brick Safari that’s just opened there. It was an early start for us and we got to catch up with a few other bloggers before heading into the zoo before it opened to the general public. After we’d made a beeline to say good morning to the giraffes, we had a great day exploring at a zoo we’re getting to know really well now.
My best friend lives close by so we popped over for a catch up in the afternoon for a few hours before heading home. My bed is calling.
