Project 365 2018 Week 46 Days 315 – 321
Sunday 11th November – Day 315
Remembrance Sunday and also the centenary of the end of WW1. We decided to spend the day at home, watching the various services on TV and telling my son about the various family members who fought in that particular war. He was lucky to have two great grandfathers who actually came home.
Of course any day at home will involve Lego building at some point!
Monday 12th November – Day 316
Dad’s birthday so we rang him before school to wish him a happy 76th birthday.
A busy day for all of us with school, swimming and work. I was on rota to be the parent helper at Cubs, not much to do but nice to see what goes on. Unfortunately my son got upset at one point after they played a relay game, he isn’t a fan bless him. I’m sure he was tired but having me there probably didn’t help hold back the tears.
All was well by the time we got home and the cheeky antics were back to delay going to bed.
Tuesday 13th November – Day 317
There’s a lot going on at the moment and today was one of those days where it all just got too much. I cleared a couple of blog jobs that needed to be done and then decided the best way forward was fresh air. So I put my walking boots on, got in the car and drove over to Stowe. The weather was perfect for a long walk, and what better place to clear your head. I even found a new statue! Something to show my son on our next visit together.
Wednesday 14th November – Day 318
A productive morning at work, shopping done and then home to peace and quiet.
My son was going to his best friend’s house straight from school so I decided to get his birthday and Christmas presents wrapped and stored. Two fewer jobs to worry about.
He’s such a fussy eater that mealtimes aren’t very inspired these days, but seeing as I wasn’t feeding him and his Dad was actually home, I cooked braised steak with a BBC Good Food recipe, and it was delicious. No one moaning at the dinner table made a refreshing change.
I also got to enjoy spotting the sunset from the front of the house, something else I never see when my son is home. It’s the little things. But as much as the peace is lovely, it was also lovely to have my chap home again.
Bedtime delaying tactics tonight were finding a book with Auckland in it. He shouted down to me, Mummy I’ve found where C lives (his cousin) and the extinct volcano that she used to walk past on the way to work. Mummy, send her a photo! Well at least it got him reading, and made everyone laugh.
Thursday 15th November – Day 319
We’d been sent a Meccano Ferrari set to review and my son couldn’t resist having a play with it before school this morning. He thinks it’s his, he’s wrong!
Friday 16th November – Day 320
Children in Need day means it’s wear something spotty to school. Someone was happy with his Mum’s handiwork.
Work for me and then a catch up with a friend and a bit of help sorting her Facebook page out, before heading home for a late lunch.
Saturday 17th November – Day 321
We’ve been sent Incredibles 2 on DVD to watch ahead of its release on Monday, it appears I’ve got my own superhero. We’re off out this afternoon to catch up with our NCT group for our annual Secret Santa meal. It’s impossible to get everyone together in December these days so this is the closest we get.
Love these photos, he is such a happy boy! #365
Generally he is
Your boy looks so happy with the Lego.
Aww! That’s a shame your boy was upset at cubs. I think when we are around they seem to get more emotional.
It sounds like you mad the most of your time when your boy was at his friends house. x
He’s always happy with his Lego
Hope you had a nice NCT catch up. I miss getting together with mine. There’s only 5 of us still living in the area, but maybe I should try and see about getting us together. Would be interesting to see how the kids now get on given only a few ever see each other.
It was lovely, the kids only see each other a couple of times a year but they just start where they left off. Ten kids, five sets of parents, it was loud
Happy 76th birthday to your dad!
I managed to capture the sunset on Wednesday too! It was stunning.
Wonderful wasn’t it
Happy belated birthday to your dad.
Hope you work things out but yes a walk in the fresh air helps, I usually take my personal radio just to have something to listen to so I am not listening to what is in my head. A new statue will be a great thing to share.
Lots of lovely cheeky photos this week, delaying tactics are irritating.
He’s the master of them
Love the superhero photo! Sorry to hear you’ve got a lot on and hope it all gets sorted. Fresh air is always the answer, in my opinion! I struggle with fussy eaters here too, my daughter in particular is a nightmare. My eldest started improving when he got to 10, but my daughter gets worse rather than better!
I was amazed he’d wear the mask to be honest as he’s funny about things on his face. But he liked this mask. Thanks x
I love your blog. It’s great to hear about parenting from a 40 something mother. Fresh air is always a lifesaver for me too. It’s amazing how it can transform a screaming bundle of unreasonable rage into a nature appreciating bundle of joy.
Thank you, and yes very true about fresh air!
Happy belated birthday to your Dad! My Mum will be 75 next year. The landscape in Stowe is so scenic. Pretty pink sky too. And yep, I’m nodding at the bedtime delaying tactics, sounds so familiar. Monkey looks like Zorro in the mask. 🙂
Yes I can see the Zorro likeness
I have helped out with both Beavers and Cubs this week, most of the time it is nice to see a different side to the kids and them trying new things (but I would have hated team games). #project365
Yes it’s lovely to see what they do
