Fast Forward

Fast Forward – AD sent for review and giveaway

You all know that I’m a bit of a petrol head and a lover of motorsport generally.  My son has grown up with my love of Formula One in particular and I’m proud to say that he’s also a Ferrari fan!  I knew he’d enjoy looking at the latest release from Quarto Children’s Books, Fast Forward by Adam Skinner which was published earlier this month.

Fast Forward

Fast Forward is a large 80-page hardback book aimed at children aged 7 years and over.  It showcases eighteen different circuits and iconic events, held in thirteen different countries.  It’s not just Formula One that’s covered, but also Nascar, the Dakar Rally and the Indy 500.

Fast Forward

The book is beautifully illustrated throughout and provides information on each circuit or event, as well as on the drivers and cars who have raced it.

Fast Forward

The start of the F1 season is held at Albert Park in Australia these days and I can remember just how unlucky Ricciardo was in 2014 and how lucky Martin Brundle was to get out of his 1996 crash there.

Fast Forward

Spa is somewhere I’d love to watch the racing live one day.  It’s such a challenging circuit, undulation through the Ardennes forest.  As with all of the circuits and races featured, there’s information about different corners or elements of the race and lots of facts and figures for children to enjoy.

For something totally different, the iconic street circuit race around the Circuit of Monaco is a must see.  Fast Forward also informs children about the racing cars of days gone by, cars that my Dad will have seen racing in the past.

Fast Forward

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is somewhere else I’d love to take my son one day with it’s uphill climbing.  My son was lucky enough to meet Sir Stirling Moss at Flywheel a few years ago, and we both adore the E type Jaguars.

  1. My two boys are always pleading with me to take them to the Monaco Grand Prix at the Circuit de Monaco because they think it would be the best experience ever!

  2. I would love to see the Monaco Grand Prix. I know it’s no longer the only street circuit but it’s the classic one isn’t it? And it’s been immortalised in so many films. The bends, the hills, the tunnel – they are iconic, and to see those powerful cars and skilful drivers negotiating them would be a dream come true.

  3. The Australian Grand Prix would be great. I visited a small Australian racetrack years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it so seeing a F1 race in Australia would be even better.

  4. the Nürburgring, I would love to ride this circuit as its the biggest and best in the world, unfortunately not up to formula 1 standards but more challenging.

  5. Monaco Grand prix – ALWAYS WATCH it on tv – what an experience to see live

  6. I would love to go to the Monaco Grand Prix, I’ve been to Silverstone 8 times, but Monaco is the pinnacle of Grand Prix races

  7. Have always wanted to see the really bendy Stelvio pass in Italy, but might need a helicopter too, to see it at it’s best.

  8. Monaco Grand Prix for the thrill and excitement of the race, perhaps a bit of celebrity spotting too.

  9. A grand prix would be great! My partner loves watching the racing so we’d all enjoy it

  10. I would love to see the F1 in Texas – We love the F1 and have always followed it and we used to live in Texas so it feels like the perfect combo!

  11. I’d like to go to the Malaysian grand prix as it’s one of the best races on the calender.

  12. I would love to go to the Monaco Grand Prix, it’s such a well known thing and always sounds so exciting. Would love to go just once.

  13. To be honest visiting a racing circuit anywhere in the world holds no appeal to me but I’m entering in the hope of winning this giveaway for one of my grandsons

  14. I would like to visit the Monaco Grand Prix beacuse it seems like such an exciting place and such an exciting circuit.

  15. I’d love to visit Hungaroring – the location of Damon Hill and Jenson Button’s first grand prix wins.

  16. The Monaco Grand Prix – famous, great weather, great track, great accomodation, and full of life with parties all night long

  17. Probably Monaco Grand Prix. I would like to experience Monaco sometime. Though would probably need to win prize with spending money, or perhaps have a good win on the lottery. As I believe Monaco is expensive.

I have been curious about how Monaco is since Princess Grace ( ex – actress) was reported in the media. Wondered if perhaps Monaco was a nice place, since she chose to move there. Though on hindsight Prince Rainier was desperately keen for a wife who would / could provide him with children. In order to keep the Principality in his family (descendants).

  18. Silverstone Grand Prix. Our home race. Would love to mingle with the teams.

  19. I have always wanted to go and see the Monaco Grand Prix track – I have promised my father I would take him. We are getting married on a cruise ship and one of the stops is Monte Carlo. Can’t wait!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
