The Kid Who Would Be King DVD – AD sent for review and giveaway

Yesterday saw the release of The Kid Who Would Be King DVD, as well as the Blu-ray version through Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.  With a PG rating, this is a wonderful family-friendly adventure that we’ve enjoyed watching.

The Kid Who Would Be King DVD

The Kid Who Would Be King DVD mixes the myth of King Arthur and the Sword in the Stone, Excalibur with a modern day school setting.  We meet Alex who tries to protect his best friend Bedders from the school bullies Lance and Kaye.  Alex earns a detention when he fights back and after school, the bullies chase him into a construction site, and that’s when the action really begins.

Alex discovers a sword and pulls it out of a pile of mud, not knowing that’s his awoken spirits from the past.  Evil sorceress Morgana sends her minions of Mortes Milles to return the sword to her, whilst Merlin must help Alex fight against the evil she presents.

Alex and Bedders google the words they see inscribed on the sword and they learn what a treasure he has uncovered.  Merlin arrives back in modern times at Stonehenge as a young boy and introduces himself to Alex as a new boy at school called Mertin.

It turns out the Alex has four days to destroy evil Morgana or she will enslave the whole of England.  He must unite everyone at school and stand up against evil before the solar eclipse sees darkness take over the land. It’s going to be no mean feat as the rest of the school don’t believe in Alex or their fate. Could Alex believe in himself and help to bring everyone together?

  1. Fairies are my favourite. They are beautiful and gentle little creatures. Who wouldn’t want them to be real?

  2. Dragons because they are so powerful . I really wanted to see this at the cinema but never got there

  3. Which is your favourite mythical character and why?
lcarus as he was willing to try to fly

  4. My favourite mythical character is the sphinx because its looks amazing and I love the the idea that it can tell riddles.

  5. I love dragons, they’re so complex, they can be good or evil, and gentle or vicious

  6. King Arthur, although he really existed, the common portrayal of him is a mythical character and it would be great to establish some truths.

  7. My favourite mythical creature is a centaur because I think it would be fun to be half horse 😀

  8. The Yeti is my favourite but I do like the thought that someday real evidence will be found that it exists.

  9. Neptune/Poseidon because I’ve always been fascinated by the thought of an undersea kingdom.

  10. Mine is a merman – why? Because the idea of mermaids are awesome and I would be able to relate to a merman more!

  11. The abominable snowman, out of all the mythical creatures I would want this one to be real, as they always seem to be protrayed as being gentle giants and very clever.

  12. I love dragons as im obsessed with game of thrones and danaerys and used to love the puff the magic dragon song! Xx

  13. The Incredible Hulk. Enjoyed the to series :- David Bannerman, a nice man, scientist. He would change into the Incredible Hulk ( Giant, Green) when he was angered, yet the size, and power was used to overcome evil, protect / saved good people. So it was quite moral, and positive, in preventing harm to good, or innocent people.

  14. Favourite mythical character would have to be Father Christmas, as it brings so much joy to children and adults who still believe!

  15. Unicorns! I’m glad they’re not real tho as I’m sure humanity would drive them to extinction

  16. I love mermaids and it was great to take my daughter to wikee wachie springs in Florida to see what she thought were real live mermaids! Best place ever!

  17. Werewolves, as I think they’re pretty cool and the idea of being able to shift into a wolf is awesome!

  18. Mermaids, i always wanted to be able to swim under the sea and look af all the sunken treasure

  19. King Arthur and Merlin, since I was a kid i have always been fascinated and hoped the legends were based on real people somewhere on our little islands

  20. I love unicorns – beautiful and always make me think of my childhood and the wonder and excitement whenever I saw a picture of one.

  21. Cerberus – something about being the guardian of the underworld that makes it really cool!

  22. dragons 🙂 I’m welsh so I have to love them and I really like the idea of basically a fire breathing flying dinosaur being real

  23. Huge fan of the King Arthur and Merlin tales, because I like the idea of our history embroiled with witchcraft and mystery

  24. I’d love for leprechauns to be real as I really do believe they sit on pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

  25. I love the idea of the Greek mythologies especially medusa imagine having to deal with that hair every morning LOL. Thanks for the chance my boys would love this
