Once upon a time I had perfect eyesight, would blitz my eye test and leave the opticians with not a care in the world. Then I started working on VDU screens and I was told at the age of 26 that I needed to start wearing glasses. Having turned 51 earlier in the year I’ve been wearing varifocals for a few years now and they can be rather expensive. I’ve always been a bit sceptical of ordering glasses via the internet if I’m totally honest. I wasn’t sure about ordering frames without trying them on, and I was even less sure about how they would fit me if I did order them. So when I was asked if I would try the unknown and share my experiences of buying varifocal glasses with Online Opticians UK I thought it was time to see what would happen.
I have an existing prescription which isn’t due for review just yet but I’ve wanted to change the colour of my frames for a while so buying varifocal glasses with Online Opticians UK seemed like the perfect time to go for something different.
Having worn glasses for a number of years now, I have a fairly good idea of which styles best suit my face. So when I had a look at the frame options available on the Online Opticians UK website I was able to filter down to the best choices for me both in shape and type, as well as by colour.
Once I’d made my selection I was sent a pair of sample frames, along with instructions and a prepaid return envelope. I had to take a selfie of myself wearing the sample frames and email it to the address provided. From that photo, Online Opticians UK would be able to work out the fit for my frames.
I won’t lie, I was rather relieved when the sample frames arrived that I did actually like them once I’d put them on but I was still sceptical that they could be fitted correctly from a selfie photo. Time would tell.
I returned the sample frames as instructed and awaited delivery of new glasses. Would I be impressed?
Well yes, I have been impressed and all of the concerns I’ve had regarding ordering glasses online have been wiped away. The frames are lightweight as I prefer, and they sit really well on my ears and over my nose.
I’ve had issues with nose posts making my nose really sore before and was really concerned that glasses ‘fitted’ online would be a problem. Well, that’s absolutely not the case with these glasses at all.
My other concern with ordering glasses online has been the prescription itself, especially with me needing varifocals. I was able to put my new glasses to every type of vision test on the day they arrived. I needed to drive to the shops, walk to school, do some work on the laptop, watch TV and read a book along with cooking dinner.
I was really sceptical about how these glasses would work for me. But just like the frame fit, my fears were allayed in all aspects of my daily life. I’ve been shown that buying varifocal glasses with Online Opticians UK is not only an easy process, but the results are just as good as anything I’ve seen from the high street.
The glasses arrived in a hard protective case, with cloth, and I also received a mini screwdriver set on a keyring, lens cleaning spray and glasses neck cord.
If you’re looking for a new pair of glasses then I think you might also be rather impressed with the service provided by Online Opticians UK, the experience has certainly made me rethink the way I buy glasses.
