Project 365 2019 Week 34-35 Day 230 – 243

Sunday 18th August – Day 230

Project 365 2019 Week 34

We were shattered after a long day in Kent yesterday so it was nice to have a bit of a lie-in.  We’d been invited to The Lion at Wendlebury for lunch, which was delicious.  This one was clearly really tired and was a nightmare when we first sat down but eventually, the smiles and silliness returned so we could enjoy our meal.

Afterwards, we headed over to my brother’s to spend a few hours with him and his family ahead of the funeral on Tuesday.

Monday 19th August – Day 231

Project 365 2019 Week 34

My son was super excited that he was going to spend the morning with his best friend while I was at work.  He had a lovely time and I had a good catch up with his Mum when I got back later.

We’ve been on poop watch with Paddington for a week and he’d gone from one extreme to another so I rang the vets in the afternoon to make an appointment for him.  Sod’s law he did a normal poop a couple of hours later.

Tuesday 20th August – Day 232

Project 365 2019 Week 34

We’d got up early so we could get sorted before Paddington’s vet’s appointment.  But then he did another normal poop so it seems he’s tummy has finally sorted itself out.  Cancelled our appointment and booked him in for the snip and chip in a couple of week’s time.

My son set to work on his HMS Victory Airfix model he’d bought in the bargain bucket at the Hornby Visitor Centre at the weekend.

Daddy P finished work at lunchtime and we headed over to Banbury for the family funeral.  The service was lovely and everyone managed some laughs at the wake.  It looks as if the OH might have some good news on the work front, which will be a big relief all round.

Wednesday 21st August – Day 233

Memory Jar

I might have had one too many glasses of wine yesterday, foggy head day.

I had work in the morning and my son went to the minder.  After lunch, we had a chilled out afternoon at home which suited us both well.  We remembered to add last week’s happy memory to our jar.  There have been some really bleak times this year, but we’ve made a point of recording at least one happy memory in the jar every single week.  This jar sits on the kitchen windowsill and whenever we’re having a bad day it just helps to remind us that we’ve still had good times.

Thursday 22nd August – Day 234

Santa Pod

I’d got hold of free entry to the Junior Drag event at Santa Pod and my son’s best friend, his brother and Mum joined us for the day.  We had a good time enjoying the drag racing, monster trucks and stunt bike displays.

Friday 23rd August – Day 235

Project 365 2019 Week 34

I had work in the morning, came home to find Paddington has a new resting place!

As soon as Daddy P got back from work I headed up to spend the weekend with my bestie. There’s been an accident on the M40 so any hope I had of reaching my friend in daylight went out of the window.  It would have been her partner’s birthday on Bank Holiday Monday, so she needed some distractions.

Saturday 24th August – Day 236

Project 365 2019 Week 34

My friend and I had been up chatting until the early hours but we had a chilled out morning getting a few jobs done at her house.  After lunch, we headed out on a favourite walk for the rest of the afternoon.  We scattered some of her partner’s ashes and ended up in a pub we used to all visit regularly.

Sunday 25th August – Day 237

butterfly on flower

We spent the day at Calke Abbey, which is close to where my bestie lives.  The gardens were at their best and I hadn’t realised exactly what I’d captured in this particular shot until I got home later in the week.

I’d originally meant to have come home today, but I asked my bestie if she wanted me to stay over again as I didn’t want her to wake up tomorrow alone.  She agreed so we treated ourselves to a curry, a few beers and a good film for the evening.

Monday 26th August – Day 238

Project 365 2019 Week 35

I was really glad I’d stayed over the extra night, it kept my friend busy and didn’t give her time to dwell too long.  I headed home mid-morning and got treated to extra cuddles from my son when I got back.

I was shattered so decided not to join him and his Dad on a trip to Quainton in the afternoon.  It was all I could do to not fall asleep.

Tuesday 27th August – Day 239

Project 365 2019 Week 35

My son and I headed down to Hillingdon to spend some time with one of Dad’s cousins.  We’ve not seen her for a while, so it was lovely to catch up.  After lunch we headed out to one of her local parks, my son made friends with some local children, made music and ran around like a loony.  But it was really hot, and we soon headed back to her house for shade, a drink and cake!

Wednesday 28th August – Day 240

Project 365 2019 Week 35

Work for me in the morning then after lunch my son and I headed into town to get a load of jobs done, including getting his hair cut! Home then to do his holiday homework, it’s fair to say that very little effort has gone into it but at least he did make an effort with his handwriting.

Thursday 29th August – Day 241

vintage Lego train track

We headed over to see my ex-MIL for the day.  We’ve not seen her since April, and so much has happened since then.  We caught up on all our news, my son made good use of her vintage Lego train track as usual and we just had a lovely chilled out day.

Friday 30th August – Day 242

Shakespeatre Rose Theatre at Blenheim Palace

I had work in the morning and my son went to the minder for a few hours,  Then in the afternoon, we headed over to Blenheim Palace with friends as we’d been invited to watch a performance of A Midsummer’s Night Dream.  We made the most of the nice weather and had a picnic lunch in the grounds before the performance.  I’d been a little worried that the boys wouldn’t like the play, but actually, they both coped well with it, and my friend and I really enjoyed it.

Saturday 31st August – Day 243

Project 365 2019 Week 35

We’re having a quiet day, I’m shattered and so is Daddy P.  It’s also the only day that I can get everything together in preparation for Wednesday’s return to school.  The shoes that we’ve had for ages that were too big, should now be the right size but having just tried them on I don’t think they’ll see my son through to Christmas – grrr.

He’d been happy Lego building.

  1. Hope there does turn out to be good news on the job front. You seem to be making the most of the holidays. I must check H’s shoes – we had one pair (for review) that he never got to wear properly because his feet grew.

  2. I’m glad paddington seems better now.
So sorry about the funeral. I’m glad it went well. That’s great news about your OH’s work.
The memory jar is a great ideas, especially for when you’re having a bad day.
It sounds like you did the right thing staying with your best friend the extra night.
Ugh! Holiday homework is the worst! Well done your boy for making an effort with his handwriting. x

  3. Love the idea of the happy jar, do you get the notes out and read them when you feel down? I used to spend a lot of time at Santa Pod with an ex boyfriend in my teens, signs of a mispent youth lol. Glad to hear the funeral went well and that you had a good weekend with A on what would have been her husbands birthday

  4. That is nice of your both to support your friend. It is a difficult time. Such a sad day with the funeral. Fingers cross on the job front. That is nice the photo of the park and Lego is such a fab toy xx

  5. What a busy time for you. Glad the wake went as well as it could. I am sure your bestie really appreciated all the support over the weekend. I am loving the vintage lego railway my two would love it. Im the same with school shoes. Drives me potty and they are so expensive. Hope the return to school went well. x

  6. Am loving the idea of a happy memory jar. Should try that with the girls. Nice of you to stay over with your friend…am sure she must have really appreciated the support.
