Project 365 2019 Week 40 Day 272 – 278
Sunday 29th September – Day 272
We spent the day with Mum and Dad and my brother and his family. After brunch and watching the Grand Prix we all headed out to watch my nephew play in an under 20’s football match. This shot was taken before it hammered down with rain. Thankfully we had waterproof coats to share around to keep everyone dry.
Monday 30th September – Day 273
A two job day for me and then I picked my parents up from the train station. We went to meet my son from school and he couldn’t wait to introduce them to his best friend. He’d been so excited to spend some time with them at our house and show Gramps what he’s done with his Hornby model railway. I took a step back to cook dinner whilst he enjoyed time alone with his grandparents.
We wouldn’t see them again before they fly back to Spain on Wednesday and I’m not sure when we’ll see them again.
Tuesday 1st October – Day 274
A frustrating workday trying to get equipment working correctly but I feel like I’m getting to grips with my second job more now. I wish the same could be said for blog work, there aren’t enough hours in the day any more, and I’m too tired in the evenings to switch my laptop back on.
This was the view on the walk to school in the afternoon. We just got home before the heavens opened and the thunder and lightning began. If only we hadn’t had to go back out to take Brewster for his post-dental op check up! Thankfully he got the all-clear, but we were all glad to get back home again.
Wednesday 2nd October – Day 275
I worked in the morning and it wasn’t until I was sat at the hairdressers and looked in the mirror that I realised I wasn’t wearing mascara or eyeliner! Two things I never leave home without putting on.
Thursday 3rd October – Day 276
The fact that this was the only photo I took all day, sums the day up really. It was freezing, laptop and printer frustrations with work and the day was topped off by a visit to our ‘catchment’ secondary school, which we didn’t like at all. Maybe we will feel differently next year, but I came home feeling really concerned about the future for my son. I just don’t think that school is a good fit for my son at all, we much preferred the one that’s actually closer to us.
Friday 4th October – Day 277
The double act. Relations between Brewster and Paddington are thawing a little, although it’s still not perfect.
A double workday for me but a productive one. After school, we headed up to Banbury to pick up a bundle of Thorntons chocolates that I won from the local shopping centre there. My son was desperate for some new pj’s too so we killed two bird with one stone.
Saturday 5th October – Day 278
You all know that my son is a big fan of Cressida Cowell, so when I heard she would be at Cheltenham Festival after the release of the latest Wizards of Once book, I had to get tickets. We picked up Galina from Chez Maximka and her son on the way. We’ve not seen them for a number of years so it was nice to catch up. The weather was kind to us but I’ve managed to jam the glove box in my car so now I can’t access the power cable for my sat nav and the wheel nut chuck for the wheels (not useful when my brake discs and pads need to be looked at in a couple of weeks! More money will need to be wasted to break into the box – grrr!
Thank you once again for taking us to the festival. It was so lovely to meet Monkey and you. I think the boys had a blast together. Sorry to hear about the jammed glove box, I was hoping you could open it.
Lovely photos of Monkey with your parents, you can see how much they love each other.
I’m going to get the OH to leave my car with me tomorrow, I’m hoping I’ve found a fix on the internet, otherwise …… It was lovely to see you both
How lovely to spend time with your mum & dad.
It does sound like you need more hours in your day. I’m glad you are getting to grips with the 2nd job.
You look fab without the make up.
Oh no! Such a shame about the secondary school. I hope you work something out. It must be such a worry.
I’m glad things are better between Brewster and Paddington. It must be hard for Brewster to share his space with a newbie.
How cool to meet Cressida Cowell and take Galina and her son along for the ride. x
Thanks Kim x
How cool to be able to meet his favourite author again. Glad the work is working out well. Hope the car bits get sorted without too much trouble
thanks
What lovely photos of your son with your parents and how sweet that he was excited to introduce them to his best friend. It’s definitely hard to find time to blog when you’ve got other work too. Much as I love my blog, it always has to come second to my actual work.
Glad to hear that Brewster has got the all-clear.
Yes I don’t know how you fit it in.
ooopppps at jamming the glove box, hope you manage to get it unjammed when you are less frustrated with it.
How lovely to catch up with Galina and for the boys to do something together.
Glad he got to spend some time with your parents before they went back.
I’m giving it one last try tomorrow
Must have been great to meet Cressida Cowell. Sorry to hear about the blogwork – I know I would struggle in the same situation. I can’t work past about 3pm these days.
It’s not ideal is it
Sorry to hear about the jammed glove box, I hope you got it sorted. I would so love to meet Cressida Cowell, how cool. Sorry to hear about the blog work. It is not easy. Hugs xx
I’m hoping I’ve found a fix on the internet to try tomorrow
Hope you had a lovely time with your parents, I never tend to think about the impact on our adult kids with us living abroad as they’ve all lived abroad themselves and when they left home, they moved countries also. We’ll be back in a few years as they are already starting to ask about our old age plans
We’ve had to talk about it all especially as they bury people within 24 hours where my parents live.
So nice to be able to spend time with your parents! That is a lovely photo of them.
Oh that is worrying about the secondary school…I hope things work out.
Thank you
What a lovely visit from your parents. It looks like evsryone had a great time. Your larentp are an adorable lovely couple. I love your hair and boots.
Do whatever you think is best for your son. There is no shortage of schools.
A bit of a stressful week you’ve had. It happens
It’s true
Lovely pics of your time with your parents visiting (matching smiles!) You know your son best so go with your heart for the school #project365
Thanks
So lovely to have your parents over, glad your son got a chance to spend some time with them. The book event sounded great fun as well. And that sky…..
