Project 365 2019 Week 51

Project 365 2019 Week 51 Day 349 – 355 The week when Paddington went missing.

Sunday 15th December – Day 349

Project 365 2019 Week 51

The weather overnight was horrific and I was dreading the drive down to Kent on Sunday morning, but thankfully the sun shone all the way.  The M25 also behaved itself for a change.  I spent the day sorting out things at my Auntie’s flat, making things more manageable if she does end up coming back from the hospital and also putting the paperwork together for us to deal with in the future.

The menfolk went shopping while I was away, so I might actually get a Christmas present.

Monday 16th December – Day 350

Project 365 2019 Week 51

A day that started much like any other.  Paddington went out, my son went to school and I went to work.  Two out three of us came home, but Paddington didn’t.  He’s never been out overnight and I was starting to get concerned.  There were sightings of him following some Secondary schoolboys to school in the morning and then further afield later in the day.  My son and I walked around in the evening trying to find him but with no luck.

The daily Berry the Elf photo was the only one I took all day. Even he was searching for Paddington.

Tuesday 17th December – Day 351

Project 365 2019 Week 51

Still no sign of Paddington.  One very upset Mummy and son this morning.  My next-door neighbour drove me around a few of the estates in search of him, but we had no joy.  In the afternoon my son’s bestie’s Mum walked around the estates again with me and I started to put posters up.

My son was devasted when he came out of school and we agreed we’d put our tree up to take our mind off the situation.

I went out for another late night walk and have been so humbled by the response from complete strangers who have also been out searching for him.

Wednesday 18th December – Day 352

Project 365 2019 Week 51 Weds

Still no Paddington.  Someone had reported a sighting late last night from Monday in a specific area, so I decided to search there after work and I put the cat basket in my car just in case.  I was at work when a message came in to call one of the Vet practices in town, I felt sick calling them back, but he was ok, had been taken in last night, and fed.  Oh wow!  My boss drove me to the Vets, her cat is Paddington’s mother.  We took my little fluff ball home, settled him in and I asked the school to get a message to my son.

Then my phone battery decided to die for good, so as soon as work was done, I went into town to get that sorted before going home for kitten cuddles and job number two.

It was so wonderful to see my son reunited with his kitten, who has been grounded until after Christmas! It meant we could actually enjoy his carol concert.  The children sang beautifully, I was especially impressed with their singing of Silent Night in French.

Thursday 19th December – Day 353

Project 365 2019 Week 51 Weds

More Paddington spam! I was glad to be working from home today, so I could keep an eye on our little wanderer.  He is shattered and has slept even more than normal.

The end of the term for my son and I think we’re both rather relieved to be having a break.  It’s been such an emotionally exhausting week.

Friday 20th December – Day 354

Project 365 2019 Week 51

My final workday of the year, so my son came into work for a couple of hours with me for job number one, then home to keep an eye on emails for job number two.  Then the holidays could truly begin and my first proper break in months!

I have a feeling this will be my view for the next couple of weeks – Lego building concentration, no Mummy required.

Saturday 21st December – Day 355

Project 365 2019 Week 51

I got to have a little lie-in whilst my son made the snow domes that Berry the Elf had left him last night.  While Daddy P had a meeting my son and I did some baking; gingerbread and mince pieces.

Later on this afternoon, we are off for a catch up with his sister and husband before they head down to London for Christmas.

  1. What a week for you! Even though I know Paddington had been found, I still had tears in my eyes reading this. I’m so relieved he is home now and I hope he stays there for good!
Merry Christmas to you all. x

  2. So glad that Paddington was found and brought home. Got so worried when I saw on your insta that he was missing!

  3. I’m glad you had an OK drive to your Auntie’s.
I am so glad Paddington turned up safe and well. What a worry for you. You do right grounding him.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas x

  4. So pleased for you all that Paddington was found. Cats do like to worry us (ours from when we were kids went missing for a week once and we think he was in someone’s shed as came back starving. The other time he was gone for 2 weeks – we think he was hiding up in the car’s engine then my mum drove off and he fell and ran off. He arrived home totally smashed up and covered in leaves, we think he curled up somewhere to die but didn’t so managed to get home and the vet patched him up and he was fine but minus one eye and my mum minus a lot of money)
    Have a fab Christmas

  5. I was relieved to hear Paddington had been found safe and sound. Sounds like Sunday was a productive day at your aunts and a great idea getting all the paperwork together

  6. It was so heartbreaking to read about Paddington’s disappearance and I felt such relief when you were reunited (we had a cat who disappeared but with a sad outcome) I hope he behaves himself from now on! #project365

  7. So glad he turned up and that someone handed him in. What a relief for you all. Ours sometimes wanders but normally only for a night at a time and comes back in the morning looking sheepish. Hope he has learnt his lesson and that you all had a good Christmas x

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
