Project 366 2020 Week 2

Project 366 2020 Week 2 Day 5-11 and the first full week of a new year, and my son went back to school.

Sunday 5th January – Day 5

Project 366 2020 Week 2

We had planned to head over to Brean Down for a day of seaside adventures in an area we didn’t know but when Paddington didn’t come home last night there was no chance that we’d enjoy a day away from home.  Of course, you can imagine our delight when I got a message from someone mid-morning with a photo, asking ‘Is this your cat?’ with him sitting in the middle of the road, not far from our house.  One kitten safely home, and back under house arrest.

He thought he could butter me up by falling asleep right next to me.

Monday 6th January – Day 6

Project 366 2020 Week 2

Inset day for my son but a working day for me so he had to come along too. After work, we went into town to get his hair cut, but the barber was still shut, no signs about when they’d be reopening and my son wouldn’t go to any other barbers in town.  So we headed home for an afternoon of arts and craft with him recycling waste from his Gravitrax board into a collage, with hidden things to find.  It kept him amused for ages.

Tuesday 7th January – Day 7

Project 366 2020 Week 2

Back to school and normal routine, back to the early alarm clock – urgh!  My son went into school without a backwards glance which is lovely to see after the years of heartache.

A working day for me and a bit of desk rearranging to try to make things easier.  In an ideal world, I wouldn’t be sitting at a circular dining table to work, but this is my reality.  I’ve been struggling with neck and shoulder issues for quite a while and the break from working over the holidays helped.  But as soon as I’ve started working again ….. so time to make some changes, and today my laptop stand arrived, and once I’ve got the level and angle correct, hopefully, it will help.  I also need to get my new glasses sorted and some of the issue is the angle I need to look through my varifocals to see the screen clearly.

Some paperwork arrived regarding my auntie which should make like easier for us to help her with her finances and welfare once it’s all been processed.

Wednesday 8th January – Day 8

Project 366 2020 Week 2

Nothing I like more than catching my son reading of his own accord. I bought him the latest Guinness World Records book for Christmas and it’s another hit.

Brewster has been off his food for a while after we switched him to the mature food, so I thought I’d try him on the same brand as Paddington, but again with the mature version.  He ate much better yesterday, but it was clearly too quick a switchover and there was all sorts of carnage I’ll leave to your imagination in my bedroom when I got back from work and having my hair done.  Joy! Looks like I’d best get some chicken in and try to sort him out.

School is setting up a Forest Foragers group for KS2 and have selected my son as one of the children to take part.  He’ll miss out on indoor PE one day a week and get to go outdoors in all weather, totally up his street.  I’m presuming it’s to help with his confidence.

The kids got to watch a pig heart being dissected at school as part of their topic work.  Wish I’d been in class today, I love all that sort of thing.

Paddington has become a bit of a local celebrity since his disappearing acts and even my Avon lady wanted to see how he was doing today.

Thursday 9th January – Day 9

Project 366 2020 Week 2

A working from home day for me, and a day for Paddington to have some fun outdoors.  He was in and out all day with both myself and my boss from my second job acting as his personal door opener.  He loved having someone else to fuss over, but clearly all the excitement was a bit too much for him and he’d crashed out before I picked my son up from school this afternoon.

Topic work today at school apparently involved making fake blood.  So much more fun than when I was at school.

Friday 10th January – Day 10

Project 366 2020 Week 2

My car was back in the garage, the near window washer hasn’t been working for ages, and as the OH uses my car during the week and his drive is along a lot of country roads, it’s getting dangerous to not be able to see.  So I dropped it in on my way to work to be fixed.

It’s cold today, but so lovely to have a blue sky day.

Paddington went out when I went to work this morning, and I was relieved when he came straight in when I called him at lunchtime. He’s been in and out again and then crashed out next to my desk before school pick up time.  Fingers crossed this continues.

Finally got my son’s hair cut after school, think it was the longest it’s ever been.

Saturday 11th January – Day 11

Project 366 2020 Week 2

Today is officially a pjs day.  I’ve come down with some lurgy and my son didn’t need much excuse to have a lazy day.

Paddington managed to lose his collar this morning, but one of our neighbours knocked on the door this afternoon with it.  All reunited but makes me think a GPS collar could be a very expensive waste of time.

  1. Naughty Paddington. I hope he is staying nearer home now.
Your work set up looks great. I hope the laptop stand helps.
Well done your son for reading. The Forest Foragers group sounds great for your boy and a lot of fun. I hope he enjoys it.
I hope you feel better soon and have enjoyed your lazy day x

    1. Yes hopefully he’ll enjoy it. He’s going to miss music and French which is a shame as he likes both lessons, but apparently they are doing something else with French soon anyway which will at least solve that issue

      1. N hates their french lessons. He’s done 2 years and I’m not sure he’s learnt anything apart from colours, hello and how to ask how you are.

  2. Glad to hear your son went back to school so well. Sounds like a nightmare cat week, with Paddington’s disappearance and the food troubles for Brewster. How funny that Paddington has become a celebrity! Hope you are feeling better soon.

  3. Happy New Year. Paddington is going to be one of those cats which keep you on your toes isn’t he? I am so glad to hear he is back where he belongs. I always find the first couple of weeks in Jan hard. Hope you feel better soon x

  4. Naughty Paddington. He’s a little rascal. Hope you are feeling better soon. I hope you can sort out the eyesight, desk, etc. issues. It’s important to be comfortable whilst you work.

  5. Oh dear, naughty Paddington. I hope he is staying closer home now. Your work set up looks great, I need to get something like this. I hope the laptop stand helps. I hope you feel better soon. x

  6. Oh dear at the wanderer, but glad he is getting known in the area, helps to get him back.
Love the look on his face for the hair cut picture, made me laugh.
My big brother us to get the Guinness book every year for Christmas and he loved it as well.

  7. Grrrrrr to Paddingtons adventures, is he chipped? A GPS tracker would be interesting, but an expensive loss. Hope Brewster’s tummy has settled down now. hoorah on the paperwork for your aunt and a big well done to F for going to school so nicely

  8. Paddington does like to keep you on your toes doesn’t he?? Glad he got home fairly quickly.

School is so much more fun then when we were at school…don’t remember ever making fake blood!

I hope the laptop stand helps
