disclosure: we were sent the item mentioned in exchange for a review and giveaway

Today sees the release of the animated family film Abominable on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray™ and DVD today from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The film has also been available as a digital download since 3rd February.

Abominable

We’ve been lucky enough to watch Abominable ahead of its official release today, and we all agreed that it’s a really rather lovely film which is beautifully animated.

Set in China, we meet the teenage Yi who is working every hour possible in a number of different, often unpleasant jobs.  She’s saving up to go on an adventure. Yi is struggling to come to terms with the loss of her father and has been keeping her family and friends at arm’s length.  One night she discovers a young Yeti hiding on the top of her apartment building and so begins a magical journey of discovery and Yi and her friends Jin and Pen try to take ‘Everest’ back to the Himalayas.

They are hunted down at every turn by the wealthy collector Burnish, zoologist Dr Zara and their squad of trackers.  The friends soon discover that the Yeti has some powers as the friends travel across China, from producing huge blueberries to riding waves of flowers travelling across fields, the children learn more about themselves and what’s really important in life.  Not only does ‘Everest’ have magic powers, but when Yi plays her violin all sorts of spells are cast to help them on their way.

Can they reunite ‘Everest’ with his family and save him from those who would like to capture him and put him on show?

Abominable comes with a host of bonus features including the short film Marooned, Show and Tell where the young Yeti puts on a magic show and tell for his fellow Yetis, deleted scenes and a whole host of other features to enjoy.

  1. Id love to see a Fairy! They are thought of as mysterious creatures and it would be fantastic to find out what they did

  2. On the way to school this morning, my daughter honestly asked if I had ever seen a unicorn. Would love for them to be real so she could see one

  3. Definitely a Unicorn! Ever since I was a little girl I’ve been obsessed with them, they’re beautiful, wise and magical creatures

  4. Has to be a unicorn because they are lovely looking creatures and tame like a horse, also like seeing it in the film never ending story.

  5. Not a creature as such (maye he is) but it would be Poseidon, I would ask if Atlantis exists under the sea

  6. I’m probably a bit strange but I have always liked the thought of vampires, it would be exciting if they were real.

  7. I love horses and so would love to see a real unicorn. My preference though is for the old-fashioned type of unicorn, silvery white with a silver horn, rather than the rainbow-maned modern unicorns!

  8. The Loch Ness Monster, I went on a Nessie hunt and would you believe it, I was slightly surprised not see him!

  9. I think it would have to be a unicorn as i’ve loved them ever since i have been a child and they look beautiful

  10. It would have to be the Loch Ness monster. To settle the arguements we had when we were little over whether it was real or not x

  11. Any, because it would show me that we have to believe, just because something isn’t proven doesn’t mean it isn’t true

  12. The Loch Ness Monster as i have a massive collection of nessies in my bedroom and would love to prove to my hubby that hes real!

  13. An imp, ever since being in the Imps six in Brownie guides. I’m guessing mischievous but helpful

  14. Would have to be a dragon I grew up with my parents playing puff the magic dragon to us

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
