Project 366 2020 Week 13 Day 82 – 88 The week that saw technology save Mother’s Day and saw the world go into lockdown.
Sunday 22nd March – Day 82
Mother’s Day, we got up early to have a family Zoom session to surprise Mum in Spain. It was lovely to see everyone even if we couldn’t be together in person.
I found a bottle of Prosecco I’d forgotten we had and made rhubarb crumble with some rhubarb that a stranger on the estate was sharing out.
Monday 23rd March – Day 83
The first day of school at home and some early morning cat cuddles were needed. It didn’t go particularly well as we didn’t get our timetable through until lunchtime. But the sun was out so we spent the afternoon in the garden.
Fresh air was just lovely.
Tuesday 24th March – Day 84
We got off to a better start with school at home today until we got to the English task. The meltdown from my son reduced me to tears and he wasn’t expecting his actions to cause so much upset. Anyway, after lunch, we headed out into the garden again. Found a caterpillar which was ready to pupate so we found a jar and popped soil and the caterpillar inside and now we wait for a moth to emerge. My son also spent time excavating the garden!
I had a lovely Zoom with most of my NCT group, was just what I needed at the end of a challenging day. Hopefully, my friend’s OH will get his operation tomorrow.
Wednesday 25th March – Day 85
I thought I was going to furloughed by my morning job so I was amazed when I get the message this morning that I could work from home and juggle my hours a bit. Hopefully, I can make it all work as school at home is still challenging.
Friends had suggested typing rather than writing but it was just as painful and my temper was shorter than yesterday. I decided to email his teacher for some tips, as I’m just not getting any work done when he’s constantly having meltdowns. We’ve now got some new strategies to try tomorrow and if they don’t work then I’m just going to walk away from English for a bit.
It was another sunny day but rather than going outside my son built an amazing Lego tank.
Thursday 26th March – Day 86
We were both determined to stay calm today. I changed our working space a bit and we set to work. Chocolate biscuit bribery might have been involved and there wasn’t as much typing for his English work as I’d have liked, but we got through the day. One of his tasks was to draw a poster of a three-legged dog that was part of his English. So he found a dog drawing tutorial on Youtube and off he went. It looked great when he’d finished it too.
Friday 27th March – Day 87
Double work from home day is now going to be the norm for the next month, so a new kind of juggling along with school work. My son had a much better day, but I was totally stressed out by 2pm. So we headed out into the garden and ignored the school work that hadn’t been completed.
Saturday 28th March – Day 88
My period arrived so at least that explains why I’ve felt so strung out this week. I was shattered and in need of some peace and quiet so the menfolk gave me some space and I watched a film on Amazon Prime and just switched off for a couple of hours.
Paddington found another box, I swear if we actually bought him a cat box, he wouldn’t use it.
