Project 366 2020 Week 14

Project 366 2020 Week 14 Day 89 – 95  The week that saw us come out of self-isolation into the new normal.

Sunday 29th March – Day 89

Project 366 2020 Week 14

I’m so glad we’ve got Paddington right now.  Brewster is lovely, but he isn’t a cuddly cat.  Just now my son needs a friend and Paddington is his confidante, his best buddy and general playmate.

Monday 30th March – Day 90

Project 366 2020 Week 14

Our first day out of self-isolation! It was so wonderful to be able to leave the house, although a bit daunting as we went shopping for the first time with the new restrictions in place.

I’m now working both jobs from home every day as well as schooling from home, it’s a lot for both of us to deal with.

Tuesday 31st March – Day 91

Project 366 2020 Week 14

I’ve resigned myself to the fact my hair will just look awful for the next three months but at least for the menfolk of the house, I can offer an easy fix to their hair issues. I tried to order hair clippers from Amazon, but it appears the rest of the world had the same idea, first delivery May!  So I checked out Argos instead and found one item that was available for collection from our store in town. Some may not class this as essential travel but I’d exhausted all other options and OH is a key worker and short hair is a must.

Although this street was empty, the main area in town seemed too busy to me and I was glad to escape back home.  It’s strange how anxiety takes hold these days.

Wednesday 1st April – Day 92

Project 366 2020 Week 14

I haven’t got much of a sense of humour right now, so we gave April Fool’s Day traditions a wide berth for once.

The cats have been getting on a bit better at times and I thought they looked really cute sitting on the garden table together until I realised that they were pigeon spotting.  Thankfully the birds stayed safe.

We went for our allowed walk in the afternoon and my son’s teacher rang just as we were walking past the school which is all closed up.  Such a strange time we are living in, and lovely for my son to hear his teacher’s encouraging words.

Thursday 2nd April – Day 93

Project 366 2020 Week 14

One of the most annoying things about our self-isolation period was not being able to go to the garden centre before it was forced to close.  We had some flower seeds which my son planted last week, but no veggies or sunflowers.  Thankfully I discovered that the garden centre is doing home deliveries so I ordered some supplies to keep us busy during the school holidays and they arrived today.

My son has never been interested in team sports and I can’t even remember the last year that this football got kicked in our garden.  But this afternoon it was lovely to see my son laughing as he kicked the ball around the garden, he made a chair into a goal and off he went.  Reminded me of watching my brother when we were kids, although he was lucky to have a much larger lawn to play on.

Friday 3rd April – Day 94

Project 366 2020 Week 14

My nephew’s 18th Birthday – we all surprised him with a zoom ‘party’ in the evening, the best we could do in the current situation.

I’ve been struggling with a really bad headache for the last two days, tablets don’t seem to be shifting it either, so not sure if it’s too much screen time with work or just general anxiety with the coronavirus situation.  In the end, I messaged my second boss and said I’d catch up with work over the weekend and stepped away from the laptop for the afternoon.

We went for a walk in the sunshine, with my son taking the lead of where we went.  There are loads of alleyways through our estate so it’s been interesting to discover new areas. We walked past his best friends house and they saw us, so we could wave as we walked past. When we got home he went straight into the garden to play football again before telling me that I was taking part in Celebrity Mastermind with him being the quiz master.

Saturday 4th April – Day 95

Project 366 2020 Week 14

Weekends with nowhere to go.

I’m so glad my son has Paddington right now.  He’s providing a positive focus for him, something he can love and rely upon in these strange days.

  1. Aww! Paddington and your boy look so happy together.
That’s a great idea about cutting the menfoks hair at home.
Good luck with your planting. I managed to get some seeds off ebay.
It sounds like you did right stepping away from the laptop. I hope your head is feeling better now. x

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
