Project 366 2020 Week 19

Project 366 2020 Week 19 Day 124 – 130 Another week of lockdown and school at home for my son.  The week we lost a member of our own family to Covid-19.

Sunday 3rd May – Day 124

Project 366 2020 Week 19

And then there were five butterflies.  We managed to miss the moment when every single one emerged too – which didn’t go down well.

I needed to pick something up in town and decided whilst the OH was around I could leave my son at home with him, walk into town by myself and collect it.  Also ensuring I got to have some time to myself.  It was bliss.

I then came home and burnt my fingertip whilst making lunch – it really hurt for the rest of the day.  OH’s bandaging skills leave a lot to be desired!

Monday 4th May – Day 125

Project 366 2020 Week 19

My SIL rang first thing to tell me that her Uncle was in the COVID ward in his local hospital and that things were looking really bad.  I rang my OH to tell him as he’d already left for work.

We spent the day waiting for the phone to ring.  My OH spoke to his cousin in the afternoon and at the point, although worse than the night before, he was still with us.

My son spent the afternoon playing with his KNex and we had an impromptu disco in the living room – he was really good company today.

Tuesday 5th May – Day 126

Project 366 2020 Week 19

We woke up to the news that the OH’s uncle lost his battle with Covid-19 last night.  There are no words.

Wednesday 6th May – Day 127

Project 366 2020 Week 19

After school and work were done, we both needed some chill out time.  We decorated bunting for VE Day and decorated the windows with special paint pens.  Planted up some strawberry plants and decided it was time to let our butterflies go.  It seemed even more poignant after losing Uncle Sid to watch them fly away, although one didn’t want to leave my son for ages.

A two-hour zoom call with my NCT group in the evening was just what I needed.

Thursday 7th May – Day 128

Project 366 2020 Week 19

Clearly life isn’t ‘interesting’ enough here right now.  We noticed that Paddington was limping mid-morning.  I’m sure he wasn’t earlier in the day.  I couldn’t see any obvious bite marks or injuries, and a call to the vet was clearly needed.  They’re running a triage kind of system so booked a phone consultation.  He rang back, had a chat and agreed he’d better see him this afternoon.

Cue lots of tears from my son.  It’s been one of those weeks so I decided school was now closed for the rest of the day.  That got rid of the tears at least!

Friday 8th May – Day 129

Project 366 2020 Week 19

The 75th Anniversary of VE Day and a one of Friday Bank Holiday.

I’d not been able to get clotted cream anywhere so when a local cafe offered a cream tea delivery service I thought we’d have a treat.  They delivered first thing and the fruit scones smelt divine!

We enjoyed lunch in the garden before heading out for a walk so we could say hello to my SIL and BIL from a distance.  There were lots of street parties in people’s front gardens, some social distancing more than others.

My next-door neighbour was having contractions whilst we were clapping for carers last night and their car had gone in the early hours.  A VE Day baby was on its way.

Saturday 9th May – Day 130

Project 366 2020 Week 19

A glorious sunny day and we’ve decided to walk to another village nearby for our daily exercise, just need the OH to get out of the shower now!

Flipping slugs had a feast of their own last night from the look of things.  Two tomato plants down already 🙁

What have you been up to this week?

  1. Oh no! That is a shame not seeing the butterflies emerge but it is amazing what is left from them! Your son looks so proud with them on his fingers.
Knex is fab! My youngest loves it and has had a few of boxes over the last couple of years. She still plays and uses it about once a week.
So sorry about your OH’s uncle. Sending love and hugs x

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
