Mummy and Me – May 2020

Mummy and Me – May 2020

Another year where I try to get out from behind my camera and capture moments with my son.  A challenging month for everyone as we deal with Coronavirus.  A month where we could eventually leave the house for longer than an hour and travel anywhere in England but decided to still stay close to home.

Week 19

Mummy and Me - May 2020

The week we celebrated the 75th anniversary of VE Day at home.  As you can see Paddington slept through most of it.

Week 20

Mummy and Me - May 2020

We had lots of sunshine this week and made the most of it by exploring more footpaths from our doorstep.

School at home whilst working has continued to be a nightmare really but we’ve done what we can and just accepted that something is better than nothing.

We ended the week with a walk that saw us taking a break almost next door to where we’d had our NCT classes back in October and November 2009! So we’d brought my son full circle, from bump to ten-year-old boy.

Week 21

More sunshine and ice lollies were definitely the order of the day.

At the end of the week, we drove out of our town for the first time in over two months.  We didn’t go far, just to a nature reserve close to home but it felt like leaving the country.  It’s also the first time I’d taken my DSLR camera anywhere in all that time too. Clearly I like wearing the same top on Sundays!

Week 22

I had the week off and it was the first time I’d driven out of our town myself.  We got to explore some old favourites and have a couple of new adventures and life felt a bit more normal for a few days.

We also spent time at home and got the paddling pool out, only to discover that it’s got a puncture somewhere in the bottom ring.

Have you got out from behind the camera and recorded moments with your children this month?

  1. Lovely to see smiles during this time. I think there’s been some positives to come out of all this, we need to find the joy and the purpose. As another forty something mum to one (45 and boy is 4), I was already entrenched in some stressful behaviours by the time my little boy arrived. This forced period of lockdown has actually quietened things down for me. We’ve adjusted well and I’m strangely loving the way life has slowed down. I hope when we’re out of it I don’t lose that.

  2. How lovely! Beautiful photos of you both with lots of smiles. A very nice, busy and fun lockdown for you.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
