Project 366 2020 Week 26 Day 173 – 179 Another week of getting used to the new normal, and a Father’s Day unlike any other.
Sunday 21st June – Day 173
Fathers Day and as no heritage steam railways are open at the moment I had to come up with a new plan for today. After a bit of research, I discovered the Hockley Railway Viaduct walk which starts in Winchester. We packed a picnic and headed down the A34. Parking in Winchester city centre is free on Sundays, the sun shone and the walk and viaduct were fab. We found toilets that were open and clean and an ice-cream seller. A perfect day out.
Monday 22nd June – Day 174
My two bookends. Looks like this week is set to be a scorcher and the cats are not impressed. Paddington was even less so when he had to go for his booster after work at the Vets. He had a good check over whilst he was there and I was told he was in good health when I got him back.
Tuesday 23rd June – Day 175
Paddington decided to disappear for 14 hours, clearly sulking about his trip to the vets yesterday. There was still no sign of him after dinner so my son and I walked around the local area looking for him, to no avail.
At 9.50 pm he sauntered in through the patio door, made a beeline to his food. I wonder if he’d got trapped inside someone’s garage when they’ve put their bins out this morning.
Wednesday 24th June – Day 176
The butter wouldn’t melt look. This one decided to spend the day at home, generally sleeping the day away. Normal service has been resumed.
Thursday 25th June – Day 177
Another scorching hot day. We were meeting up with my son’s best friend and his family after I’d finished work. We had planned on a long walk to Trow pool but I suggested a few hours in the woods would be a much cooler option. It was fab, we had the place pretty much to ourselves and it was lovely and cool. Lots of chatting and laughing and it was so good for the boys to have a bit of normal face to face time together.
Friday 26th June – Day 178
I was awake in the early hours so managed to secure tickets for Stourhead for next weekend. We went for the first time in January, so it will be lovely to see it in full colour this time around.
I work from 9-2 every day so haven’t been able to appreciate the weather until it’s at it’s hottest! Think we’ll save our walk until this evening now!
Saturday 27th June – Day 179
Had to drive down to the outskirts of Reading today and drop the OH off so he could collect a refrigerated van. To say it rained a lot on the way down would have been an understatement. Thankfully the weather was kinder to me on the way home and my son searched for rainbows but we weren’t that lucky.
What have you been up to this week?
