Project 366 2020 Week 39

Project 366 2020 Week 39 Day 264-270 My first week with my new work schedule and I bought and picked up my new car.

Sunday 20th September  – Day 264

Project 366 2020 Week 39

Oh, my word, how draining is buying a car!!! We had two test drives booked for a Polo and a Golf so I could decide which I preferred size-wise so I could then look at options available with my budget.  We had an appointment booked for 11 am, we didn’t get back home until gone 2.30 pm.  Although lots of people said I should get a Golf, when I drove them both, I much preferred the Polo which wasn’t what I expected.

Anyway, I was adamant about a couple of things I wanted the car to have so it took ‘some time’ for the garage to track one down that matched my requirements and budget.  We got there in the end, although when he started talking about the £3K of extra things we could add – top-up insurance and the like I did snap.  My son was starving, I’d told him my budget, I was not interested in anything else.  Just let me buy the car! He got the message eventually, and we pick my car up on Saturday.

The rest of the day was a blur as we were all totally shattered after our garage experience. A shame as the weather was lovely and we really didn’t get to enjoy it at all.

Monday 21st September – Day 265

Project 366 2020 Week 39

Back to school and my first long day at work.

My son and I have been playing a game we’ve been sent for review for the last week after school.  It’s fun and educational, although he doesn’t like losing.

Although Paddington gets most of my son’s attention these days, there is still time for Brewster cuddles occasionally.

Tuesday 22nd September – Day 266

Project 366 2020 Week 39

The last sunny, warm day apparently.  Getting my son to go to school this morning was a nightmare.  There were tears, he tried to run home twice and trying to stop a ten-year-old who isn’t far off your own height is not easy. I was a wreck by the time I got to work and with a couple of other things I felt exhausted by the time work was done for the day.

Nothing much grows in our garden but the nasturtium seeds I planted earlier in the year have gone mad and we’ve had so many flowers.  Shame they are hidden behind something else so we can’t see them from the patio doors.

Wednesday 23rd September – Day 267

Lego F1 cars

My son’s best friend is 11 today, only seems five minutes ago that the boys were in Nursery class and now they are in the last year of primary school.  Too scary.

With my new working schedule, today is my day off so I had the hair appointment I should have had on 2nd September and then got on with some blog work that was due.  Still need to find time to write some days out posts.

When I was little my brother spent hours playing with his toy F1 cars, creating circuits and having races.  Now it’s my son having races, mostly with his Lego F1 cars, sometimes with models that our friend Suzanne gave him.  It takes me back, although I’m not sure my brother’s cars crashed quite so often!

Thursday 24th September – Day 268

Project 366 2020 Week 39

Work for me and school for my son.  After work, I grabbed a few things I needed in town and then headed out to meet a good friend I haven’t seen since before lockdown.  It was lovely to have a good catch up over a cuppa and a pastry.  A little bit of normal in the mad world we live in.

It’s that time of year again when inspiration for photos is few and far between and I grabbed a selfie just to have a shot for today.  It shows how poor the camera is on my iPhone too – the next thing I need to upgrade!

Friday 25th September – Day 269

Project 366 2020 Week 39

I was up in the early hours to book tickets for somewhere for next weekend.  Could have done with a lie-in instead of school and work to catch up on sleep!

My son loves his Lego and follows a few people on YouTube who build their own Lego cities.  They’ve given him lots of inspiration and he’s currently building a ‘MOC’ building.

Saturday 26th September – Day 270

VW Polo

We had to be up early to pick my car up at 8 am, although it then took over an hour for them to go through paperwork and faff before I finally got to drive the car away.  It’s lovely and going to feel like luxury after my old car that’s really on its last legs now.

I’ve managed to figure out a few of the ‘modern’ controls and I’m sure the first time someone rings when I’m driving it will scare the life out of me.  But to have a heater that works both for hot and cold feels like heaven right now.  I’m so thankful for the unexpected inheritance I received. Spookily the car was registered on Brewster’s birthday – it was fate! Now to organise for my old car to be taken away.

  1. Your new car sounds wonderful, mine is on its last legs and the lights come on and off without warning which can be entertaining. Sorry little man is struggling with school, it’s all so different at the moment, Isaac is having a bit of a wobble too, although his teacher did phone to reassure me that he was doing well. Love your new hair 🙂

  2. Glad you managed to find a car you like. You are right though – car shopping is exhausting. That’s partly the reason why I’ve only had 4 cars despite having my own vehicle for the last 30+ years. Hope the school routine settles down soon.

  3. Happy new car . We’ve been busy with the granddaughters . Their Mummy and Daddy have been so busy at work finishing between 11 and 11.30 pm each night so we’ve done the ballet run and swimming run . Homework , baths and bedtime . Little one had to have her bloods taken on Friday which wasn’t pretty . Her Aunt was recruited and even then the four year old won lol . Night in watching tv tonight

  4. There is a lot to think about when buying a car and it sounds very stressful. I am glad you got it in the end.
What a lovely photo of your boy and Brewster.
Your boy really does love his Lego. My youngest got hers out today for the first time in ages. x

  5. The nasturtiums look pretty, you’ll have to plant them where you can see them next year. Glad you’ve got your new car, I will say it was really easy buying a car during the initial lockdown as I did my research online and knew which vehicle I wanted and everything was handled via email so no additional sales pressure. Glad the boy is still having fun with the cars

  6. Awwww yey! You finally picked up your new car! Sounds like a nightmare with the car sales dude though, they just don’t get it! People do not have half a day spare to listen to them try and sell us things we don’t even need… and never will! At least you told him and all was sorted! 🙂 What a week, hope your son is looking forward to school more in the mornings now and that work is going well! Loving the hair do, oh to have a pamper right now! Hope you are having a lovely week! Sim x

  7. Yay for the new car. I always find garages difficult to deal with, well done you for telling them and sticking to your ground. Sorry to hear school mornings have been a bit difficult, hope hes doing better now. x

  8. Buying a car is exhausting. I’m glad you managed to find something you liked though and it sounds like a lovely car. Having your son struggle with going to school must be really hard. Hope that it was just an off-day. Lovely to catch up with a friend and have a bit of normality. Love the look of concentration with your son creating his Lego buildings. #project366

  9. Great to hear you got the new car – happy driving ! Sorry to hear your son is having school issues – hope there’s not anything bad causing it. Good to hear he’s still happy playing with his Lego though. New hair is looking good 🙂

  10. Enjoy your new car, I remember it took ages when we got mine a few years ago. I have never used half of the controls on mine but the air con is my fave too. #project366

  11. Yay to the new car! It can be a nightmare car shopping…they always try to sell extra things and can end up frustrating!

  12. How exciting that you have a new car! Cat cuddle pictures are very sweet too. Sounds like you have been busy this week with work, hope this weekend was more restful for you.

  13. Great that you got the car after all that hastle. Hi, Paddington! Woah, that must be tough, chasing a kid all over; he didn’t want to go to school? Pretty flower. Kids grow fast. Cool cars; well if toys aren’t wrecked with, what’s the point? 😛 That Lego building looks great.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
