Project 366 2020 Week 49

Project 366 2020 Week 49 Day 334-340 The second week of my son having to self isolate and we are climbing the walls.

Sunday 29th November – Day 334

Project 366 2020 Week 49

Chilling out at home with Brewster – looks comfy there doesn’t he?

Monday 30th November – Day 335

Project 366 2020 Week 49

My son started live online sessions via Microsoft Teams today in the morning and set work for the afternoon.  It certainly helped a bit with me working until 1 pm but my son refused to join in and ask questions or for help from his teacher, so I fear it’s going to be a long week.  He did enjoy the afternoon scavenger hunt this afternoon, more than the poem he had to write afterwards!

I had a flower delivery from one of my work friends who is also Mum to Paddington’s brother.  A lovely surprise.  We also received a card from the Vets along with a pack of Forget-me-Not seeds to plant in the garden.  Something we will do when we have Paddington’s ashes back.  I think my son has decided that he wants a garden planter to place his ashes in with his plaque so once he is out of self-isolation we’ll take a trip to the garden centre so he can pick one.

Tuesday 1st December – Day 336

Project 366 2020 Week 49

School at home is definitely easier when I’m not working as well.  Some children might be able to work brilliantly by themselves at home, my son is not one of them, even when he knows what to do.  Maths is easier than English work. I’ve no idea why he’s got padlocks on the desk either!

Wednesday 2nd December – Day 337

Project 366 2020 Week 49

The flowers from Bloom and Wild my friend sent have come into their own today.  Letterbox bouquets normally a couple of days to bloom properly.

School at home has moved to an earlier timeslot and my son was not best pleased.  He won’t ask the teacher for help or volunteer answers when he knows them and really doesn’t seem to be engaging with the Teams classes at all, unfortunately.

We’d had a message to say the personalised artwork Christmas cards we’d ordered had been delivered to school and we could collect this week – uum.  I got the OH to pick them up for us.  How do mum’s with more than one child do the school runs if one child is self-isolating I wonder.

Thursday 4th December – Day 338

Project 366 2020 Week 49

A rainy day so quite nice that we don’t even need to open the front door.  School at home went fairly well, it definitely helps when I can sit with my son, even if it’s just to refocus him when he drifts off from it all.  Art in the afternoon was much appreciated as he loves that lesson.

Friday 5th December – Day 339

Project 366 2020 Week 49

The sun finally set on my son’s self-isolation and school at home – and not a moment too soon.

Saturday 6th December – Day 340

Project 366 2020 Week 49

My son and I popped to the local garden centre to buy a planter and bulbs ready for Paddington’s memorial garden.  He’d wanted poppies but they didn’t have any seeds, so we can add those later.  For now, he’s settled on red and white tulips.  So now we are already for when Paddington’s ashes come home.

  1. It sounds like your son has been kept busy with the home learning. When my youngest was self isolating she refused to join in either. It was so frustrating.
What beautiful flowers. How lovely of your friend to send them.
The memorial garden sounds like a lovely thing to do to remember Paddington x

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
