Being ever so slightly behind with everything at the moment, I’ve not had a moment to write about a birthday for Monkey! Bless him, he’s been 4 years old for over a week now, and has taken a number of big steps forward with his confidence since the big day. Coincidence I’m sure, but still being 4 seems to be suiting him.
Daddy P had been at work since the afternoon before the big day, but was coming home in time to pick Monkey up from school on his birthday. We agreed that Monkey would open his presents and cards after Nursery School, so Daddy P was with us. So Monkey tucked into his breakfast proudly wearing his Birthday Boy badge – bless him. I’m 4 Mummy!
He happily went off to school with a tin full of mini muffins to share with his classmates. I went home, fixed balloons in place, cleared space in the living room and set his presents out. We were ready to celebrate a birthday for Monkey. When we picked him up from school we heard that everyone had sung him Happy Birthday and he’d had a cake (first of a few that day!).
He’s in love with his new Mini Micro Scooter – thanks to the lovely Kara at ChelseaMamma for recommending that! He has a smart new Silku Crane that Daddy P bought on our summer trip to Hamleys and a number of Thomas & Friends puzzles, books and DVD’s that’s I’ve been stockpiling over the last few months. Monkey’s clockwork Bi-Plane has been a hit with all of us, beautifully made. I’ll be reviewing the Haba Pizzeria Allegro Game that Granny and Gramps bought from The Toadstool, we’ve been having lots of fun making pretend pizzas over the last week.
After an action packed unwrapping session, it was time for cake and Granny-cam with my parents in Spain. Monkey had specifically asked for a chocolate Caterpillar cake for his birthday. For the first time, I cheated and didn’t make it myself. I saw this fab one in Sainsburys, and to be frank, I really needed to not stress about the cake this year!
The cake was wonderful and Monkey loved it – all that counts!
Monkey’s favourite food is pizza, so we’d booked a table at our local Pizza Express as a treat. We had one very happy birthday boy.

Over 40 and a Mum to One
A Mum with a 13 year old son, enjoying life and having fun as my son travels through school life. We love to get outdoors whenever possible and make the most of the world around us. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
Sounds like a lovely birthday. Happy Birthday Monkey!
Seems like ages ok now!
Glad to hear he has such a lovely birthday! I love the photos of him unwrapping the presents 🙂

It was so funny, he was like a boy possessed! unwrapping those presents
Brilliant. Looks like he had a great day, and I can picture him whizzing around your lounge opening his pressies
It was all rather manic but lovely at the same time
What a wonderful day he had. Four is our next big birthday, it’s a big year ahead, isn’t it?
A very big year, a bit daunting to think I’ll have a school boy the next time we have a birthday!
