How to Be a Successful Work from Home Mum

There are many mums working from home who have varying amounts of success with balancing these things, but here are a few of the tips that have been passed on, see if any of them could help you.

Work Out A Schedule

Where children are concerned, things can change every day. Work yourself a schedule and try to stick to it, but you will have to be flexible. If they have an afternoon nap, use that time to work and spend the time they are awake doing things with them. In your schedule include things such as the housework and shopping, as most little children like to help with these things.

As part of it, you will also need to set yourself some time limits. It is very easy to get caught up in social media, for instance, and spend hours on it. Although you will need to be seen on these platforms to help the success of your business, 20 minutes or so a day is enough. As the business grows, the busier you will get and the more important a schedule will become.

Be Security Aware With Your Online Presence

It is simple to get so tied up in everything else you have to do to forget that you need to be aware of the security of your online presence. Always update any software, as these updates are often issued to fix potential bugs and viruses. A common theme in these tips was that the one mistake you’re making when working from home is not be able to reset your password. This could be the case if you are an employee that works from home without access to the main program. But changing your passwords regularly is vital for the security of your data, whether it be personal or business.

Have A Ritual

It is good to have a ritual that switches you from mum mode to work mode or vice versa. This could be something really simple such as a mug of tea, changing the top you are wearing or turning some music on. It just needs to say ‘I am at work now’ or ‘Work is over’.

Get Up Really Early

Some mums cope by getting up really early, such as 4 in the morning. They tend to do this for maybe three days a week, but the few hours of peace and quiet before the rest of the house awakes can be valuable for catching up with the workload. It is not much fun rolling out of bed that early but it can relieve a lot of the stress throughout the day as it takes away some of the concerns about the jobs that need doing.

These are some of the most popular tips from work at home mums, Of course, every family and job is different, and you have to find the ways that suit you.
