Kitten update: Paddington is 16 weeks old, well that was yesterday, but what’s in a day! It’s hard to believe that our little bundle of fluff has been with us for four whole weeks already. He’s definitely grown a bit and his confidence knows no bounds.
He’s already managed to scare me to death, thinking he’d escaped earlier this week. I couldn’t find him anywhere and had convinced myself that he’d escaped through the letterbox! Then there was a little noise coming from underneath our dining table. His new favourite hiding place is a tiny box under the table frame. Phew to him not escaping, but should he get stuck in there, we have no way of getting him out.
The love hate relationship with Brewster continues. If one of us is holding Paddington then the two of them will happily touch noses without any hissing. They’ve even fallen asleep in the same part of the living room but Paddington has decided that jumping on a cat weighing six kilos more than him is a good hobby. He has even started chasing Brewster around the living room and there’s a mad dash for one of us to grab hold of Paddington before Brewster really turns on him. It’s most definitely not a love-in just yet.
As with all cats and kittens, Paddington sleeps a lot. He’s claimed his little sun trap (when it actually comes out) by the patio doors and will happily crash out next to us on the sofa or armchair, He’s got sleeping down to a fine art and goes to bed in the kitchen at night without any protests.
The biggest success has been his second visit to the vets which was on Wednesday this week. After our last visit, I was rather dreading this trip. I’d put the cat basket in the kitchen on Tuesday morning so he’d got plenty of time to get used to is being around before we got him in the car after school. He went in quite happily and sat quietly in the waiting room and then was an absolute star with the vet. Phew! He’s now got his flea treatment for the next couple of months and after that, we’ve got to take him back to be weighed to see if he’s big enough for the snip. at which time we’ll also get him chipped. So that means that he’ll be a house cat all summer. I’m not quite sure how I’m going to make that work when our only access into the garden is through the living room and I don’t fancy shutting him in the kitchen all summer. Got to think about that one. Ideas?
Anyway, life with him is just lovely. On days when everything else seems rather bleak, he puts a smile on all of our faces. We wouldn’t be without him.

Over 40 and a Mum to One
A Mum with a 13 year old son, enjoying life and having fun as my son travels through school life. We love to get outdoors whenever possible and make the most of the world around us. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing days out, toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
