Mummy and Me – August 2021

Mummy and Me – August 2021 The summer holiday month, where we should have been in Spain and weren’t and I broke my toe halfway through our ‘stay at home’ break!

Week 31

We appear to have been photobombed this week by one of our kittens.  Fudge definitely likes to sleep close to someone whereas his sister is quite happy to find a quiet spot away frim everyone.  Needless to say, my son adores them already.

I’m working this week but on Wednesday we met up with some of our NCT group for a picnic lunch and managed to pick the nicest day too!  The sun actually made an appearance.

Week 32

We headed down to the Sussex coast on Wednesday with my brother and SIL.  We were catching up with old family friends and although the day was tinged with sadness, it was so wonderful to see the sea, even if only for a short time.  Can you tell that my son forgot to pack his sunglasses?

Week 33

The week we should have flown out to Spain (again) and didn’t (again).  When we made the final decision not to take the flights to see my parents, I asked my son to make a wish list of places he wanted to visit and people he wanted to see over the time I had off.  Not that we’d do everything, but to give us some ideas.  London was pretty much at the top of the list and we headed down on the train for a day of adventures.  The weather was good, the crowds were non-existent and it felt good to do something that we’d always taken for granted. And yes, he does know that he shouldn’t wear his mask under his chin!

We ended the week with a steam locomotive adventure aboard the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway. A little bit of our kind of normal.

Week 34

The week that didn’t go to plan.  We had all sorts of adventures planned for this week and then I broke my toe on Monday and all of our plans had to be cancelled.  By Sunday we agreed that the OH would drive and we’d visit Crofton Beam Engines and I was struggling too much I could sit in the car. We did that and I’d spotted a sign for Wilton Windmill, which wasn’t far from Crofton so we headed over to investigate.  My son might have moaned quite a bit about how slowly I was walking, but it was nice to get some fresh air.

The OH promised that he’d got all of the windmill in this shot and that we were in focus …….. There was an awful lot of grass in this photo before I cropped it.  Not sure what his excuse was for the sails.

Have you got out from behind your camera this month and captured moments with your children?

My son starts Secondary School this Friday, and I know that the moments when he’ll agree to be in photos at all will dwindle, so each week that he’ll let me capture a moment, will be treasured, as is he.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
