Project 365 2018 Week 17 Day 112 – 118
Sunday 22nd April – Day 112
A day to be me rather than Mummy! I’ve been part of the A Year with My Camera photography class for a while now, and our local admin Tamara arranged for our first Instameet at Blenheim Palace. It was a bit of a shame that only three of us (including Emma from Bubba blue and me) turned up, but Tamara and I hit it off straight away and when Emma joined us, we were off. The sun was out and we got to explore the grounds, and even try a path I’ve not actually walked before to see the Palace from a different angle. We talked about photography, shared tips, blew some myths, had some lunch and snapped away. There was no pressure and it was a really lovely way to spend the day. It did me the world of good.
Whilst I’d been having fun the menfolk had spent the day at Quainton Railway Centre, so everyone enjoyed themselves.
Monday 23rd April – Day 113
My son’s best friend came over first thing so he could walk to school with us. I’ve never seen my son getting dressed so quickly.
I had some things to catch up with at home after taking the boys to school, as well as emptying, cleaning and storing the paddling pool. Winter has returned.
Emma had let me try out her lens ball when we were at Blenheim yesterday and I ordered one from Amazon which came this morning. Had a little play and may need to head off to Stowe soon to play around with it.
After lunch I had my first interview in 18 years. It went ok but as it’s a term time only part-time position I know I’ll be up against a lot of other people. I’ll know later in the week if I’ve got it. It’s only 2 hours a day so I’d still be able to do other things and keep on top of the blog.
This cheeky chap came out of Cubs with yet another badge in his hands. This time a swimming badge, you have no idea how much that badge means to me, the Mum who was terrified of water and only learnt to swim a few years ago. I’m so proud of my son for not being like his mother.
Tuesday 24th April – Day 114
Brewster has the whole house to roam around to find the perfect sleeping place and he chooses to squeeze in behind the arm-chair. Yes, he is also lying on train track.
My son’s bestie came over first thing to walk to school with us and is coming here later for a play date and tea. To say that my son was excited when he woke up this morning would be an understatement. These two have been friends since they were 2 and half, I hope it’s a friendship that will stand the test of time.
I caught up with some work while they were at school and had a phone call about another interview, decided not to pursue it as it was very cold call based and I know I’d hate it.
Wednesday 25th April – Day 115
Very much a sunshine and showers day. I woke up to find the duvet thief was in the bed, I don’t even remember him getting in with me, I must have been tired.
Whilst he was at school I got the wonderweb, cut up an old pair of his jeans and rescued a couple of pairs that are still very wearable but had holes in them. Patched from the inside and he’s happy as he thinks he looks cool. Everyone’s a winner.
I got to play a little more with the lens ball and might suggest doing some work with it for my end of course exhibition submission. At least it’s given me an idea.
Thursday 26th April – Day 116
The sunshine is back. After I walked my son and his best friend to school I headed to college for the first class of our last term. It doesn’t seem possible that it will all be over come July.
A few new people have joined for the last term and we will all be exhibiting work for the month of June at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford. Scary and exciting. We are up against it time wise and the exhibition space was meant to be for July. We had to give our ideas for the theme of our work, we’ll get to hang six framed and mounted photographs. As I’ll be in Portugal when the work has to be submitted, I’ve really only got a couple of weeks to put my work together. So I’m fairly sure the theme of my work will be ‘viewing childhood from behind’ as I have so many photos already of my son taken from behind on our adventures. But I’m taking my lens ball out with me on Monday to see what I can get with that as a second option.
My son managed to get himself covered in mud from head to toe at school. Another full uniform change with only one day left of the week.
I had am email to say that I didn’t get the job I went for on Monday but they want to put me on their bank staff to cover holidays and illness and as business grows they may be something available. Think I’ll be taking them up on it as nothing to lose really.
The girls came over for a curry, it’s the first time that all five of us from my NCT group have managed to get together for our monthly catch up in ages. An evening of laughter was much-needed.
Friday 27th April – Day 117
Back to rain this morning. April really has arrived. My son gets away with murder really with his toys and he does tend to take over the living room with them all. I’d made him put everything away yesterday so I actually had an adult space with the girls coming over. This morning he’d got the beginnings of a train track re-installed within five minutes of coming downstairs. Once that was sorted he was on look out duty for his best friend being dropped off. He is loving him coming round every morning and his friend seems to be taking quite a shine to Brewster.
We all had wet legs by the time we’d walked to school and I was certainly in need of a cuppa when I got home. A day of blog catch up required before a busy weekend.
Saturday 28th April – Day 118
We had a wonderful day out in London with friends. We had been invited to review Dinosaurs in the Wild in North Greenwich and asked my friend L and her son C if they’d like to come with us. We had tickets for 2.30pm, so we thought we’d grab lunch at the O2 first, make our visit and then see what else the boys fancied doing afterwards.
Then yesterday an old friend messaged me to say he’d flown into London for the weekend and would we be able to meet up. I haven’t seen J since my wedding 9 years ago, we had to make it happen. So they met us off the tube at North Greenwich and we all had lunch together. It was so lovely to see them, even if only for a couple of hours. They headed back into the city and we headed off on a dinosaur adventure, which was brilliant. More to come on that soon.
Afterwards my son finally agreed that he would go on the Emirates Air Line cable car across the Thames. We’ve been trying to get him to go on it since we visited the Boat Show in 2014!! Clearly being out for the day with his friend was giving him added courage. He loved it and even on a murky day we could see lots of landmarks around us.
We made a quick stop at Canary Wharf to have a look around before heading home. Four very tired people had had a really good day out.
Your London trip sounds great. I’ve never even heard of the cable car. One for our list of things to do.
It’s very good and you get a discount with the train travelcard too
Looks like another busy week for you, with trips to London, Blenheim park and job interview. Sorry they didn’t offer you the job, but it’s good news they want to keep you on their books. Blenheim park looks so serene, and how lovely for you to have a creative photo session with the other girls. Well done to Monkey for gaining such an important badge!
It was a busy one as always
Hope you enjoyed Dinosaurs in the wild, it looks really good, as does Blenheim palace. I really need to learn to swim. I used to be ok at school and now I’m so skittish in water!
It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, could do with refresher lessons now though
Bank work sounds fantastic, usually the pay is more and you can pick and choose your hours. it’s what I did when I worked in care and when I was teaching, also means you get to pick and choose your holidays and working hours around school hours and sickness
Yes I don’t think this will be the same, it hopefully it will help
It sounds like a good week for you both. There’s no way you would get me on the Emirates Air Line! Your photography exhibition sounds very exciting. Good luck with getting it all sorted out.
It’s fine to be honest, just look out and not down x
Ah you went to Blenheim too with Emma. Hope you had a lovely time in London.
Thanks we did have a good time.
Looks like another busy week with trips to London, Blenheim park and job interview. Sorry you didn’t get it, but glad you are kept on the books, fingers crossed. Well done on getting that badge x
Glad you enjoyed your photo walk round, the small group sounds good to me.
Sorry you did not get the job but bank will be handy as it fits in with school hours then you will be available. A cold calling phone job is not my idea of fun though I did a work at home one for the RNIB many years ago before automated calling came in
Thanks, the photo walk was fun to do
Cats sleep in the most awkward places! Congrats on the Cubs badge, my son had his investiture last week but I haven’t got round to sewing the badges yet! #project365
They certainly do
